you should have that EVERY play, and not have to bring in a second QB for that - when the defense knows what's happening.

Jake Fromm is no real running threat and UGA had a reasonably good season, no?

I never said you HAVE to have a running QB to have a good offense.

I merely meant that when you bring in a second QB with better wheels, the defense gets tipped off that a run is more likely. And ideally, you'd like the defense to have to be ready for run (including the QB) or pass on every play.

its Tua's team now

Not sure that is true?.......... After spring and fall practices it could be true.
I'd bet my house that Tua is the starter for the opening game next fall.

Sure. But, I think of the fact that "Wildcat" plays are often effective and THEY use an actual non-qb.

Also, I remember in Tim Tebo's freshman year, he was used in that way very effectively. I mentioned Perriloux.

All I am saying is that since Narcisse has already used a redshirt, he CAN be used effectively in certain packages / plays.

I do not want a full on 2 QB "system". But, I do see his effectiveness in those plays.

I think we are on the same page, actually

Ask Ensminger how that worked out when he was playing.

A 2 QB system worked well for McClendon for a number of years. Hell, even Bobby Bowden used it at FSU for a bit back in the late 70's. Defenses have to prepare for two QBs. As for offenses, if one QB should go down, the other one is seasoned enough to take over.

uh, no it didn't. Even in the 70s, people were screaming out against the 2 QB system.

Wasn't Steve in a two QB system here with Woodly?

The only problem I have with the 2 qb system is, you become predictable with packages that each qb has to run.

Bingo.......There have been the rare occasions where a team had 2 QB's of the same skills that rotated or they went with whoever had the hot hand and it worked. But as I said it is rare. Most of the time it splits the team and becomes a ego fight between the 2 players.

What I do like is what LSU did with Tommy Hodson and Mickey Guidry. Give the back a series or 2 a game or a half. Just to give the back up experience, give the defense a different look and let the starter get a different look at the game as well. This what LSU should have done this last year with Etling and Brennan.

absolutely .. the 2 QB system works if they are both almost identical in being a threat in one area and they can both run ANY O package.

...sometimes a better running QB close to the goal line or in short yardage situations.
RARE !

as it has often been said, if you have 2 QBs, you do not have a QB... while not a 100%, darn near right.

this is the real problem with the 2-QB system.

It's like an organization having two CEOs - it doesn't work. QB is the most important position on the field and you need an undisputed guy that the team can buy into and rally around.

Amen; that was the point of my reply above. Woodley was the runner and Ensminger was the passer. Neither played enough to maximize their potential, so we were a very average team.

No two QB system has ever worked. Saban will decided before the first game next year who his starter will be. He don’t do the two QB thang. And the best player will play and if they don’t get shot done you are replaced. Unlike LSU where they stick with the same guy through thick and thin. Oh you fumble two times let’s keep you in the game, what’s the chance of you fumbling a third time.
