I have the coach’s film from that game. I called Notre Dame and they gave me the film and the radio broadcast on a cd and a dvd for 90 dollars. It was a retirement gift for my dad. He was number 93 and played defensive end who sacked Theisman twice in that game, once for 5 yards and a second time for 18 yards.
It’s in black and white, and.its cut one play after the other.

Bobby Joe King and Buddy Millican both had big games that day. Has to be one of them....right?

1970 LSU at Notre Dame

Doesn't get better than classic LSU-Notre Dame football games when both programs were elite and they played home and homes

The 1970 editions of those programs are legendary - Notre Dame you had Joe Theismann and they beat no. 1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl to cap a 10-1 season and LSU won the SEC and gave eventual national champ Nebraska a game in the Orange Bowl before falling

I know the colorization is an AI thing, but can someone confirm that ND wore green jerseys that day?

My understanding, from my ND grad brother, is that ND always wore blue jerseys in the Ara Parseghian tenure, and only started wearing green jerseys when Dan Devine brought them out for a Joe Montana era game against Southern Cal.

Your understanding is absolutely spot on. Notre Dame wore their traditional navy blue jerseys against LSU in the 1970 game.

I had the elves at AI recolor the green Irish uniforms in the previous post. Does this look correct?

Listen to game on WWL with my dad as a 9th grader we were painting and totally bummed since we played them so even to lose on a bad interference call I think that set up their FG.
Not exactly. But the bad pass interference call did get Notre Dame out of bad field position and kind of flipped the field. Then they punted and put us inside our own 10 yard line. Thus when we (LSU) punted it set them up with a short field inside our 40. From there Notre Dame drove for the winning FG with 2:54 left. So I guess you're correct in a way because indirectly that bad call set them up.

That is the best colorization I've ever seen. The original one you showed.

This game was in late November in northern Indiana. The grass was dead.

Daily trivia: there was another notable "Gerry" in the picture: former Ticer coach and temporal hero Gerry Dinardo was OL on their 1970 team.

Wasn't his older brother a captain on the 1970 ND team

his name is Larry Dinardo, hilarious

My a-hole brother was in medical school when they were still making these announcements and would stand up like he had to go make that call.

I don't know where doctors had ro report but they probably had phones where you had to get first aid.

I'll bet no one left at half time, except maybe doctor #6106.
Sid Crocker paging Doctor #6106 to call Medical Exchange.

Vintage Tiger Stadium with just die-hard LSU fans and TGBFTL. (That's all you need in the Coliseum!)

All the "PIM Noise" just dilutes LSU fan yelling volume and Tiger Band. There is no legitimate reason for it!

Back in 1980, for some reason, AD Paul Dietzel thought it was a great idea to bus the entire GBFTL up to South Bend Indiana for a non-conference game. (Just so the University would have a good showing in Notre Dame Stadium)

It turned into the "Band Road Trip From Hell." Too Long and Too Far. 3 days on a bus. The Game. Immediate return as soon as the game was over.
