Why does Haleigh get robbed every meet on floor? Her routine is filled with difficulty. She puts her heart in her floor performance. "Hum Bug" to the judges.

How was that not a 10 for Haleigh???
Her last pass is not fully controlled, she generally has a large ish step out of the front double full but covers it pretty well with the choreography.
Honestly if they ditched the last pass, she would get 10's on floor almost routinely, or pretty damn close

Doesn't she dance out of the pass that she has difficulty controlling?

She does
I just think when you are rushing out of your landing like that and given the step size, it may not always look fully controlled.
She will continue to get 9.9+ every week with that routine. Getting a 10 may be more difficult though unless she gets more control of that landing or shrinks down the size of the step out of her last pass.

I'm laughing at Ballard's 9.80/9.95 split on her floor score. Its hilarious, both judges were completely wrong, but the avg of 9.875 ended up being correct for the routine itself.
Some of the splits tonight in other meets have been ridiculous. Two routines outside of this meet for 10/9.85 splits.

So what you are saying is she gets punished for doing harder shite slightly less than perfect while some get rewarded for doing easier shite with no mistakes. Maddening

That's NCAA WAG. If you want high difficulty check out men's elite.

That Brock chick had a horrible floor performance. Lost the lead LSU had built up all by herself.
It wasn’t a horrible routine. It was actually a very nice routine until her fall on her 3rd pass. And yes, that was killer. But why Jay doesn’t give her a 2 pass floor is beyond ridiculous. She had a solid routine going into that pass.

Yes
This isn't elite gymnastics where you get a massive advantage with difficulty. Judges may be more forgiving to routines with mistakes with extra difficulty but they are still going to deduct when there is something to take off.
Vault, its the one event IMO where the extra difficulty gets rewarded more often than not. Not only that, the more difficult vaults start from a 10.0, while the normal full's on vault start from a 9.95 and get critiqued much harshly in general. You start seeing this especially more when post season comes around and judges begin to dissect routines on a much deeper level.

Beam - an improvement, but man still not the answer. I agree with the poster above who said maybe try Elena in the leadoff - she is generally sturdy. Another thing I think needs to be worked on is beam dismounts. we are giving away so many tenths there especially when they land short, like Elena did. Also, to the poster who said we were spoiled with macadaeg and desiderio has selective memory - as desiderio could rarely hit when it truly mattered (see eg every post season), but man I do miss the days of macadaeg and hambrick in the 1-2 spot.
I am torn about Brock and floor - her routine was great until then, but now it is 3/4 that she has fallen. But maybe there isn’t anyone else? Elena didn’t overwhelm me with her floor last year, but maybe try her?
The true problem with this team seems to be consistency; we are working against a drop score in almost every rotation and not just like a score you wouldn’t want to count but one that will truly torpedo your score. I feel like that has something to do with Jay’s coaching style as we didn’t see that inconsistency with DD

Desiderio had more hits than misses in the leadoff spot. She was more consistent than Kai.

Coming together.
Beam was better, but we can’t have any huge deductions (one each on bars & floor) like we did tonight if we want to go far.

I think we have to move Kai out the lead off and get rid of the switch half for something different. The rest of the routine is solid but that one skill is killing her. I think her confidence is a bit shattered right now.
Other beam lineup options could be Bryce or Jeffrey? But we haven't seen Bryce since KY and she continues to train and warm up for the meets.

Elena is an option, potentially Bryce. Jay mentioned Dunne may come available although I don't how how well her stamina is right now. It sounds though like we may see her on bars first before any of the other events. Long term, it would be nice to get Dunne back in the floor lineup but that may not be an option until later on this season as she builds her endurance back up (provided she can stay healthy).

Desiderio was more consistent than Kai, but was a huge problem as the leadoff in the post season. So for that reason, putting her in the same boat as macadaeg (and macadaeg was much more consistent than her in the regular season as well) does not seem like an apt comparison to me.
Posted on 2/3/23 at 11:22 pm to LSUgymfan420
Agree about Desiderio. Postseason is everything. While this was our best score as a team, we have a lot of work to do to get where we want to be.

Who are you referring to in this post?

I think this person is referring to Kai, but I may be wrong.
