Losses happen. Even upset losses in college baksetball all the time. Particularly when you are on the road. But to be THAT bad defensively is inexcusable.
Yes, Vandy played hard and well. Give them credit. But LSU's defensive effort, approach, and lack of emphasis on the defensive end was complete dogshit and, I'm sorry, that falls directly at the feet of Wade and his staff.
This has been a bad defensive team all season. Last night was just the worst showing in a season full of poor showings. Remember, LSU did not and has not been killed by 6'10+ post-players taking advantage of LSU's lack of size. The damage is being done from the perimeter and easy dribble penetration.
You can't tell me that a team with so much athleticism and versatility is ONLY able to take advantage of those traits on the offensive end. Despite all of the "tough talk", Wade's LSU teams have been average to well below average on defense (with this team statistically being the worst). Last night may have been one of the best examples of LSU's poor defensive play, but it certainly wasn't the first. Nor was it an anomaly.
If it somehow wasn't abundantly clear already, it should be now. Either Wade and his staff can't teach defense (unlikely) or their approach/philosophy on the defense end is awful (more likely). He talks about "beating the computers". But as much as blowing big leads, the ANCHOR for LSU is their defensive efficiency rating (it was last year as well). That's why (a) they play a ton of close games despite being a terrific offensive team and (b) can't move up in the Kenpom ratings (which are included in the NET equation) despite a pretty gaudy W/L record
All this isn't to say that Wade "should be fired" or that he hasn't done a terrific job resurrecting this program. But it IS going to be the reason this team doesn't reach it's full potential. Which would be a shame because the deficiency is SO glaring and it seems like the fix could be relatively simple. It's not a situation where LSU is just outmanned defensively. The athleticism is clearly there. It's just the approach simply isn't working

It happens, get over it. Every team plays down at some point.

Yep, I'm in line with this, far too many times last night we over played the ball and gave up open 3s or layups. You can not let that happen.
I think the head defensive guy is Bill Armstrong and he and will need to get into a room and figure this defense out. Guys like Emmitt and Marlon are good on ball defenders, and I think Skylar and Javonte aren't bad on defense.. so why isn't it translating to consistent stops??

I was at the game. Vandy, especially Evans and Lee were just on fire. Evans made like 7 - 9 from 3 point range in the 1st half and Lee just drove the ball for 2's all game.
Combination of they shot lights out, LSU was lackluster in their defensive effort, and they broke our press so easily all night that it was a joke that we kept going to it.
That being said: How many of us would have taken 8-1 in SEC play after 9 games this year. I know I would.
Make up for it, & use it as a wake up call for this weekend. We'll need to!

First off, they played like crap but VANDY shot way above average. The sky is not falling. This team can get back on track. If loosing this game means you won’t go to any or anymore then fine but this is not the reason to give up on this team.

My personal opinion is that the coaching staff is over analyzing things and giving the players WAY too much to think about on defense. Instead of just reacting, you can see they are thinking too much...which leads to indecision...which leads to guys popping wide open. They are unclear who exactly is supposed to rotate. Who is supposed to be left open for long shots and who isn't. Worried tremendously about forcing an opponent to his "off hand", but in the process, leaving WIDE open driving lanes.
I think you can see they have more freedom offensively. The result is that their natural ability takes over and they aren't hesitant like they are defensively. Maybe the more effective approach would be to simplify things

150%
When using percentages, it's from 0-100. It's like a glass of water -- you can't fill it over 100% and can't empty it less than 0%.

only time that a % can be used as greater than 100% is when comparing something to something.
when comparing to itself 100% is 100%
It goes with "windor" instead of window, etc..
let's not mention "you are and your", "their and there", etc. lol

But the worst of all is "would of" instead of "would've."

They shot lights out. It happens at least once a week across college basketball, where an inferior team just doesn't miss. Did we play good enough defense? Of course not. You learn from it and get better. This idiotic thread, from a notoriously shitty basketball hater is not needed. Any time LSU trails in a game he is doing this shite.
Facts ! The OP is constantly bitching about Will Wade, Basketball team and Aranda.
