prior to Laron's arrival, Michael Clayton was practicing at safety. there is no doubt that Laron was a HUGE piece in that national championship team. Tyrann is an incredible player but they were used differently. Do not doubt Laron's impact on his freshman season. Love them both as Tigers !

I'm sure we could all debate him or Laron or go back to Dalton or JV on offense but TM has just had a hell of a season. I think he surprises opposing players. They don't expect the hit coming from a guy his size and then he just unloads.

While I realize it fits the premise of this thread given the way the OP's question is framed, comparing a RB to a DB with respect to who is "better" or "more impactful" is stupid.

A) is always going to have more opportunities to make an impact and get his name called than a DB.

C. the Miles era

I'd like to throw another name in the mix:

Mark Roman had 74 tackles, 4 INTs (1 for a TD), 6 PBUs, 6 TFLs, and 2 sacks in 96

Mark Roman was a great player..........

And Kevin Faulk also is in this discussion but I want to just concentrate on Defensive players because as an above postered said, RBs, WRs, have alot more opportunities to make an impact

i don't know. I mean this guy is playing the toughest position in my opinion. South carolina actually has a decent run blocking offense but yea lattimore is unbelievable. i would say TM has been as valuable to our team as lattimore though.

I like C but the kid is definitely a stud! I really enjoy watching him play.
