So why don't LSU fans expect to win in that situation?

We all did. The probability was low for a TD. Rogers and Davis the two WRs absolutely destroyed us on that drive. They were incredible.

The difference is the offense has a position(qb)that can make or break them. The defense does not.We have an above average qb this year, and I expect the bar to be very similar. The National championship teams were great defensive teams not great offensive teams.I agree that we should expect more from the offense than we saw the last couple of years.

So does it make a difference that Ensminger’s salary of $800,000/year is a top 20 OC salary?

According to people in here, since Aranda is the highest paid DC LSU should have a top defense (which they do, I might add).

Weird how that same requirement does not appear to extend to Ensminger. Someone remind me, where did LSU’s offense rank? Was it top 20? Because if not, well then, what are we giving Ensminger all this money for??

There's not anyone here who is totally satisfied with Ensminger.

Aranda is far better at what he does than Steve.

Do you think 4th and 17 conversion and a 17 yard TD pass as time expires on the same drive, with a minute left are normal?

The defense shite the bed on the last drive

The fact that people compare a game or two of bad defense to freaking YEARS, I mean FREAKING YEARS of terrible offense that still has yet to show progress, is always great for a laugh on here.

Aranda can have a couple bad games here and there. He can miss a drive here and there, It's within reason and do people forget Bama does this every single year, or Clemson, who gave up 500 yards and 26 points to TAMU in regulation and 600 yards and 35 points to South Carolina at home? Clemson was #1 in scoring D and #5 in total D.

Can we score some points on Bama, please? How about Florida? We scored 19 on a good UF team, 17 on an awful UF team, and 10 on a decent UF team. What about against Miss St? We've score 5 TDs TOTAL on Miss St the past 3 years. Three of those came in 2016 and 2 were rushing TDs. We haven't thrown a passing TD on them the past 2 years.

I don't want to hear shite about Aranda having a few mishaps while we haven't figured out the other side of the ball fore years. If the offense is 75% as good as our defense will be this year, we'll be undefeated.

and what happened on the series right before this? Did LSU have a 3 and out and give the ball back to A&M where 1 first down ends the game? Yes or no.

(hint: it's not "no".)

I have had precious little faith in the offense on all levels for years.

This year, everyone who watches college football is waiting to see if LSU can produce an offense. Kinda of a shocker really for such a top program.

Ga and Aub eventually found success running the ball against LSU during the game but both stupidly gave it up and went to their passing game. Fla eventually found success running the ball against LSU and stuck with it. Stats don't tell the whole story, they can be misleading, you have to look at game film. LSU was definitely weaker against the run.

Is it a cheme issue or a depth issue?

outside the A&M game this was a top 10 defense

We were down Chaisson, Fehoko and Fulton

weve had issues at DE and CB depth

That left us basically with 3 DEs for a 7 OT game

Does he need to change his philosophy or would having a pass rusher and 3 competent CBs help more?

There are several packages installed this year that Aranda has not run at LSU yet. Mostly in part to the fact that he has not had the depth at DL and LB he has needed to do this until this season. The 4 players that will be key this season are Ika/Shelvin at nose, Divinity at LB (inside and out), and Chaisson. Expect Chaisson to be turned loose early and often this season.
