By definition if a coach has a great record he's a great coach.

Sorry, but one doesn't necessarily reflect the other.

Of course and sometimes great coaching isn't needed to achieve those wins.

With our talent and resources? The list is very long.

I'm not sure about their schedule but I can promise that if your goal is to win the NC then, no, ND's schedule was not as tough as LSU's. do you believe ND wouldn't have lost at least twice to USC, Bama, TAMU, and Florida? The very thought is absurd. Now, a mediocre team might find their schedule harder to 6-6 against. I doubt it, but maybe.

Not too many coaches could have done better with this team. Those who howl about the talent disparity are just being ignorant: go look at the offensive line again this year. Tell me where all the talent was. I'd say it was fair to say- due to injuries, probably half our conference games, the other team had the advantage. Remember- LSU>>>Auburn; but Lemonier>>>Josh D.

Those bitching about the play-calling- keep that in mind. Hell, Miles himself might have came to Stud and said "look, we have Landry and Beckham, we can run such-and-such and take advantage of their corners..."; and Stud might have replied: "I just came from the offensive line practice, Les. Hate to say it, but Mettenberger will have about one second to make a read and deliver, before he gets hit by the defensive end. And God help him if they blitz"

No it's not. The whole truth is that he has an 82% winning percentage, two title game appearances, one NC, and two SEC championships, all while playing in the toughest conference in football. He's responsible for all of that, the 18% losses and the 82% wins. You can certainly define "great" in a way that excludes Miles but you'd be in the minority.

I love LSU but living in BR unfortunately comes with people feeling this way about ND and their schedule. I really don't get the hate for ND.

They played Stanford, Michigan, Miami, Oklahoma, USC, Michigan state, byu and Purdue, who'll likely go to a bowl game.

What's so funny about that? It's not like they played Towson, north Texas, Idaho, ole miss, auburn and arky

Get your head out of the sand.

When you beat the best and have a record better than 99% of those in the game, you are one of the greats.

Please post the name of an available coach ( or even unavailable for that matter) who could have done this with losing half his starters to suspension or injury and a first time starting QB.

all coaches have to deal with stuff like this, it's not unique to LSU.

Because you have no answer. We played about 7 teams who aren't even going to a bowl game, yet you laugh at ND's schedule?

You're the real idiot here
