isn't the ultimate goal of a team to win games? What other program in the nation would you rather have besides the one obvious answer?

Absolutely. Les Miles is a very successful coach. we should all appreciate what Les has accomplished and provided to the LSU fans. Success is the ultimate goal but it can be achieved without coaching greatness being the primary ingredient.

Saban would have absolutely $hit the bed under these circumstances. He's only successful when the stars align, and terrible in adversity.

That's the logic of many LSU "fans". It does not compute and illustrates their ignorance.

There's nothing ignorant about being able to discern the difference between coaching success and coaching greatness. Often times the two are indistinguishable from one another but it doesn't have to be. Nothing ignorant about making that realization.

Please post the name of an available coach ( or even unavailable for that matter) who could have done this with losing half his starters to suspension or injury and a first time starting QB.

I would take an overwhelming talent advantage everytime.

And who is responsible for securing this overwhelming talent?

Let me answer that for you, the coach. And save the "it's LSU, we would get top talent no matter who our coach was" argument. I'm sure USC, Miami, Texas, Florida St. etc. have that same advantage right? Well let's go ahead and compare our record to theirs over the last 8 years.

Some people on here can be so naive, you are willing to point out every negative facet of the program and pin it on the coach, but ignore the success the same coach and program yield. It doesn't work that way, if you are going to acknowledge the negatives, you surely have to acknowledge the positives.

I'm sure very few LSU fans will tell you Les Miles is a good gameday coach, but his results are impossible to ignore. He is the CEO of a top tier program that only a handful of programs in the country have rivaled.

I can't answer hypothetical questions but I would like to see what some coaches could do with LSU talent. Hugh Freeze had a 59 man roster against LSU. I would like to see what happens in that game if the rosters are flipped. Give Les the Ole Miss roster and Freeze LSU's roster and see who wins that game? It would be interesting. What would Les do with an Ole Miss roster over a season as well?

Hugh Freeze is a joke of a coach, that's why he's at ole miss. High school coach at best.

miles struggled against him, so what that makes miles? freeze took over a garbage program with a ton less talent than lsu.& he took miles down to the wire.

Miles didn't struggle against freeze. He ran the typical conservative just do enough to win game plan he runs against all inferior teams. Is it annoying? Yes. But does that make freeze better than miles? No way.

An easy test of how bad Hugh freeze is...ole miss hired him.

Miles nearly lost to Dooley (UT2010) a guy who had no business coaching in the SEC.
