This will likely be par for the course for the O tenure, as it has been so far.
Bring in enough talent to get a big win every year, but not competent enough to avoid letdowns over the course of the season.

Serious question. Why would beating Bama make a difference in how one feels about being 10-2?
Eta: IF the Bama win is what would make the difference in winning the West or not, then that would be better than going 10-2 without winning the West. But, that's the only scenario I can think of that would make the Bama game make me feel differently about a 10-2 record.

I don't think we're bad enough to lose 2 if we're good enough to beat them. So I guess I would be upset that we blew a golden opportunity. And really upset at our inconsistency.

That would be an awesome year if we win the bowl. If one of those losses is Texas and we’re 10-2 (7-1) were likely playing in at Atlanta for a berth in the playoff.

Tp show recruits that LSU is progressing to that next level they must either beat bama or make the CFP. Beating bama would show LSU can compete with the elite, even if they don't make the CFP. But, the ultimate goal is the CFP. Beating bama is more of a statement. But losing to bama hurts recruiting some players.

11-1 or 12-0 and beating Bama is even better. Aim for the stars while you are at it. 10-2 with Bama win is nice and will get us in NY6 bowl game for sure, maybe SECW if Bama drops another SEC game and are only other loss is OOC as in Texas.
