Was'nt he the same guy that you could hear around the campus and stadium with his unique GEAUXXXXXXXXXX TIIIIIIIIIIIIIGEEEERSSSSSSSS!!

I get cold chills remembering this and also his TIGER BAIT ETC...

Unfortuantly I have been unabel to attend games the last fews years and had NO idea we stopped chanting TIGER BAIT at the visiting team.!! WHAT THE HELL!!???!

I remember him like it was yesterday. He would come about once or twice a week to football practice and sit outside by his car or truck and continuously chant in rhythem, "Go getem Tigers, Go getem Tigers" and he would do it for what seemed the entire practice. It was amazingly uplifting and players loved it and it was really motivational on a hump day like a late week practice. He was great. RIP Big Red. We should some how try to track down a family member and honor Big Red.

By the way what was really cool, you never saw him during practice, you just heard him. Then depending on what time practice was over he would wait outside and waive to the players as they left the practice fields and headed back over to the lockers in Tiger Stadium.

How cool would it be to actually find out who he was and where he sat in TS, and get a small plaque or something placed on that seat from the "Ranters of TD.com - here sat BIG RED for all the world to hear" ??

anyone second this motion ??

I asked several ole school hardcore fans from back in the day and they said they knew him only as " Big Red " thats all that anyone knew him as never asked his real name and never cared...just a TRUE LSU FAN THREW & THREW.... They sat by him in the South Endzone close to the top.... He would give them lessons on how to belt out the TIGER BAIT... Told them it came from deep within his stomach and blasted out of his mouth... heard several great stories on how he got to the games early just to heckel the visiting team....Wish i could have been around to hear this guy and see the the LEGEND that is " BIG RED"

everyone knew who he was, but no one knew he was.

I sent an email to Smiley Anders to see if he may be able to help us out.

I sat in the north endzone from 1970 to 1987. I have a vague memory of people who knew "Big Red" calling him Ray but I could be mistaken.

His voice just resonated around Tiger Stadium. I remember him throughout my time at LSU in the 80's and he was as much a part of Tiger Stadium as the thick humidity and smell of booze.

My Freshman year was 1972 and LSU played a freshman schedule that year. Big Red sat in his regualr seats for the Freshman games and he could fill up Tiger Stadium with "Tiger Bait" and "Go get 'em Tigers". And yes, I remember him at some basketball game sin the mid to late 70s.

Big Red is a "true Tiger".

I'm glad he passed on before witnessing the hell that was the Hallman years.

Exactly what I thought.

I feel bad for the folks who did go through those years only to pass before the Golden age that really started to kick off in 2003.

Big Red was the man that invented the Tiger Bait cheer. There was an article about him in the Advocate or the Reveille back in the late 70's or early 80's, if someone wants to do some research.
