# 2 or #3 seed - which do you prefer?

Although a #2 seed would give us a more favorable opening game, I would prefer a #3 at this point.

As a #3, we would have Hess against the #2 in what would amount to a neutral site game. Assume we win, we have Hilliard going against the host team's ace, but we would be the home team.

What say you?

It doesn’t really matter honestly. Either way you’re probably facing the #1 seed the next night.

LOL

You do realize that the 2 and 3 seeds play each other in the opening game of the regional huh? There is absolutely no difference between being a 2 seed and a 3 seed...

I mean if you're the #2 seed you get the last at bat which can always be an advantage.

Is being the “home” team when you’re not actually playing at home a big deal? Seems pretty irrelevant

At this point, according to some famous person,

"What difference does it make, now"?

with our pitching I would rather be a 2 seed no doubt

Uhhh... baseball is actually the only sport where being the home team is very relevant in terms of what's happening on the field.

So far, everybody's missing one key consideration. A 2 seed is a theoretically better team than a 3 seed. So, a 2 seed should theoretically have an easier opponent than a 3 seed, therefore a 2 seed would be better.

There is absolutely a difference, albeit a small one. As the #3 seed, we will be visitor in Game 1, and if we win and the #1 seed wins, we will be the home team in Game 2.

Good point, but I would take my chances in Game 1 against a #2 seed to be home team in Game 2.

I'm pretty sure, after the first round games, it's a coin flip to see who is home/away

easy 2 seed.
#1 home team in 1st game
#2 easier game vs. 3 seed as opposed to a 2 seed
#3 if we happen to win regional, and opposing regional #1 seed loses also, our chance of hosting super regional is higher. if 3 seed both 1 and 2 seeds would hve to lose in opposing regional.

don't care whether we are the 2 or 3.. What I do care about is not being matched up with a national seed

This doesn’t have anything to do with pitching. Maybe you should have made a post about who bats last ??????

Y'all are all missing a more important point: which middle-tier team you get paired with. If that #2 or #3 seed you are playing in the first game happens to have a stud ace pitcher, that is a tough draw. Doesn't matter if you are the #2 or #3 seed if you are paired with, say, Stephen Strasburg and San Diego State.

Would we rather have a 3 seed in the bracket with us rather than a 2 seed? Would we rather have an advantage batting last? Would we rather have a higher chance of hosting the super? Can we pitch whoever we want in any game regardless of our seed?

Other being the only advantage from a gameplay standpoint in any neutral site game in any sport it's really not that big of a deal.
