Sam’s int’s next to the goal line

I haven’t watched a replay yet. For the first int I was watching the blocking from our seats in the southeast bowl so didn’t get to see the play unfold..
Did the wideout not get to his spot in time on the first int? Seemed like it was a timed slant and the wideout got hung up. I understand Sam would have been better off tucking and running but is there some blame to go to the wideout as well?
On the second int did La Tech just make a great play? From our view it looked that way but angles could be deceiving. I do remember there being a bunch of defenders in that area

Yes, the DB did a good job of forcing him shallow.

No, it was 100% on the QB. When a receiver gets bumped and redirected a QB can’t just throw it to the bad guys.
ETA: I probably won’t watch Tech again, but I would like to see more of that defense. The coordinator is using deception to hide a lack of talent. But he is also doing a great job of teaching technique. This play is a great example. The DB jumps that route and forces the receiver shallow. Even if the pass had been good the WR would not have gotten to the end zone.

On the pick 6, it looked like the db pushed the receiver and he was stumbling just as he should have been able to make the catch.

Agreed 100% in terms of the qb not going through the motions and just throwing to a spot like in practice

It looks like Harris stumbled or was held on the pick 6. At the very least had he had an opportunity to play the ball, it would have either been a TD or knocked down incomplete.

TDG your highly touted red zone threat was blocking on the back side during that play. That strikes me as a waste of a great talent.

My only theory for that is at the time, they wanted to keep their red zone plays for 7 in the vest for next week and not have anything on film. They did run a play later in the game to 7 for a TD

I love the aggression of their DBs and LBs. Normally that would open them up to deep balls, but they were able to drop safeties deep and still stop the run.
They did a great job of covering a light box with DBs that were also covering the slots. I think that is a weakness of these RPO and Read Option offenses. And maybe the RPOs against Tech could be keyed on those slot DBs instead of the LBs?

Ehh to me it was just bad timing the wide out needs to be more physical on the pick 6
On the last one. 6 (Watkins) needs to make a better play on the ball. 10 is a gunslinger. He is going to try and fit the ball in tight windows and that is what makes him him. It was a dumb throw but still.
The first pick was just again Sam trying to fit a ball in a tight window.
The only thing I see needs to be fixed or an issue. Are the deep balls. We need a guy to be able to takes the top off. And 10 has to be able to hit them.

Tech's interception that went for a TD was actually a well-designed route which went awry -- Sam was just a tiny fraction of a second late in releasing the pass, allowing the Tech defender at the edge of the endzone a free path to take the errant pass the distance.

Harris looks like Malachi Dupree so far. He needs to get more physical. There's a clear path to playing time if he can figure it out

On the pick 6, the receiver wa there, but appeared to be pushed forward by the Tech player just as the ball was getting there, thus allowing it to go to the other defender right behind them.
