but only on the plays that make a difference, scoring plays, first down plays. Watch closely and it will be obvious. Make up calls late in the game that don't make a difference will go LSU's way...to balance out the penalties in the final tabulation.

People who preemptively complain about referees either don’t watch sports closely beyond their favorite team, and/or generally lack accountability across other aspects of their lives… which is why they start laying the groundwork for excuses before an event even occurs

This is true. Also, watch on an important third down play, flag comes out very early as “insurance”, to make sure a first down can be negated. I used to think people were just conspiracy theorists, but the SEC openly suing LSU for doing nothing wrong and the KY game opened my eyes.

quote:exactly. They do it in politics as well. It’s a psychological coping mechanism to prevent their world from crashing down in the event that something doesn’t work out the way they wanted it to.

Why do people bitch about refs so much,

100%. It's basically narcissism mixed with insecurity, somehow all at once. They actually believe there's a big meeting where all national networks, referees and NCAA officials come together with a plan to frick LSU over. Meanwhile, when the team benefits from a questionable call or no call, they're completely silent. That never gets addressed.
Yes, referees make terrible calls from time to time. No, there is no secret cabal against the team you like. If you think it's rigged then don't watch.

The SEC sued LSU because it was copying the exact approach the Big 12 did with Texas Tech over the Sorsby matter a few months earlier. That lawsuit resulted in Tech abandoning its attempts to reinstate Sorsby despite a court order. The conferences see this legal approach as their “magic bullet” to counter the schools going around NCAA rules to get otherwise ineligible players eligible.
The lawsuit wasn’t “for LSU doing nothing wrong”. It was a legal counter to the litigation all schools, not just LSU were engaging in. LSU just happened to be more high profile because of the types of players Wade and Kiffin were trying to sign.
Ultimately, I think the lawsuit is misguided and a weak argument. But it wasn’t some “grand conspiracy”.

Normally dont like to make it about refs, but today scares the frick out of me with their incompetence

Refs should wear bodycams so all can see what they saw to make the call.

That’s not a bad idea, and I’m also not against the coach having an opportunity to overturn a call with video review, like they’re successfully doing it in Major League baseball right now. That’s one of the best new rules implemented in the MLB this year, and it only takes like 30 seconds.

Have you ever watched an LSU @Auburn game before?

Just saw Auburn HC talking to the ref. Ref's basically telling him no worries we got your back! Good grief i see some calls going their way for no reason.

To see if we can over come it

I was thinking about this the other day.
Do we believe that the refs actually have it in for LSU?
Does the SEC covertly or directly talk to the refs to push calls in one direction?
Or do the refs just do it on their own?
I can't imagine the latter because it is their career and crazy fans do crazy things. Would a ref ruin their reputation because the commissioner has it out for 1 school?

Is it really the same? Did Sorsby have a TRO allowing him to play? I'm not caught up on how that situation all played out. Also, LSU never rostered the players in question. The SEC told us no and we didn't push the issue, yet Sanky still insisted that we were doing something wrong and deserved to be kicked out of the conference. He was all in on trying to make an example of us, but then it turned out that he didn't have a leg to stand on. LSU's legal team also made him look foolish on the stand. It's personal for him now. That's why it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we get hosed by the officials today.
