Is there a path for Leavitt to improve?

Leavitt to me seems like the most incapable QB that Kiffin has coached. Obviously the offensive line (especially interior) got absolutely bullied tonight, but do we see this improving at all?
There were obviously times where Leavitt had time to set his feet and throw a dart, and he refused. I think that was one of the more frustrating parts of the game to me.

At best he builds a better connection with the receivers and some of the inaccuracies resolve.

What you said is exactly why I am less confident that he'll improve. You can be rusty, you can just have an off day, etc. But while he certainly can't be called a coward, when you see the way he runs, he doesn't have the poise right now, and the awareness that you need. He has accuracy issues that can theoretically be fixed, but when you see a QB with happy feet, giving up on plays way too early, and repeatedly so, that's where I start to wonder if he is ever going to be anything other than what he is right now.
It's not impossible, but not the sort of thing that usually gets fixed quickly.

That’s what’s kind of mind boggling to me about it, Kiffin doesn’t usually have these problems with his QBs

TBH, idk where the scouting on Leavitt came from. I pay attention to ASU because I have connections to the university and he was never that astounding. Look at who he had on his team when he was at ASU before he had his season ending injury.

There’s a few passes he could have completed that would have changed the outcome. He was very unsettled early on, but then made some outstanding plays to help get them back in the game. What I see is a lack of touch. Everything is a rocket. On the flip side, Chambliss throws a quasi-shovel pass when pressured and nails it.

Yeah, it's not what I expected, so far, for sure. I was aware that accuracy was not necessarily something that stood out for him at ASU, but I thought he was more accurate than this, and I didn't know he would be so frantic under pressure. I thought the word on him was that he was a great athlete who could make enough throws, could get a little gunslinger-ish, but had lots of moxie and didn't get rattled.
I see the moxie in running the ball, but not throwing it. Way too much panic.
I really didn't watch any of his games at ASU, but always heard good things about him.

I worry about this given his commitment and dedication to the team. The guy is so focused, he is so diligent about film study, preparation, and yet the results are not representative of his efforts.

What I don't like is he gets jumpy and gets happy feet and then takes off running.
Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.
Sort of like he feels like he needs to do it himself and that can backfire.
He has all these weapons ( I get it- there's no Chase or Jefferson or Nabors on the team) but he has weapons.
Just calm down and don't rush things. That's what I've seen. He rushes things often and it doesn't help.
We'll see how he improves,.

Never seen a guy that has more deflected balls per throw in my life. He’s a deer in headlights on big stage. Sun will rise tomorrow and life goes on.

why are we piling on Sam? he was doubtful to start the week and even questionable yesterday. what he did by playing tonight was nothing short of gritty and/or gutsy. can’t say that for Trinidad “Potty Mouth” Chambless.

Last night was his first “real” game with this team and in the SEC. His line did him no favors last night and his coordinator made a couple questionable calls that took the game out of Sam’s hands.. Y’all are jumping the gun on this. Let’s give him a chance.
