Better place to park: N of stadium near Aster/Highland or S near Walkons

Are you driving home after? I would park south and take Nicholson to Gonzales.

I've only attended some sparse games the last decade but I've had the most luck parking on Dalrymple in those little lots between the lakes. Easy access to I-10 when leaving, if you're going back to NOLA just take I-10 to the next exit over (Louise) and do that U-turn under the overpass before the stop sign and it'll get you back on the entrance ramp on I-10 back to NOLA.
You gotta walk from your parking spot a bit to campus and back after the game but it's not too bad and worth it imo to make leaving that much easier.

That is what we used to do before I got a parking pass. If you get there real early you can park for free at UHigh. Next best is to pay to park at one of the lots along Dalrymple such as the Methodist church. For the big games like this one they fill up early.
As for the options you mentioned, we park south of the stadium in the Alex Box lot and have more trouble getting out of the parking lot than we do driving on the street. We take Nicholson to Gonzalez.
