I don't know anything about this guy, but judging from the quality coaches that we've brought in these past few months, he must have something good to offer.

Duke had some ridiculously unorganized recruiting efforts from 2003 to 2007.

You have got to be kidding. Not even Jesus Christ couldn resurrect Duke's football recruiting program.

Les Miles is the best when finding and attracting great coaching talent.

Cutcliffe has done a nice job in his first year. He has commanded the respect of the team far more than Roof and especially Franks, recruited 2 Rivals 250 players this year, and shown more initiative with the fans than any of our previous three coaches.

Duke was once a very successful program, even in the years preceding Steve Spurrier's run. Unfortunately, the athletic director at Duke was comfortable with hiring incompetent coaches who were in over their heads, but came at a cheap price.

Despite the aforementioned shortcomings of the previous coaches, the school was still able to bring in classes that were in the top 60 most years (usually good for 9th or 10th in a 12-team conference). However, there would often be four or five guys who would be dismissed from the team after their freshman year. That's what I mean by disorganized recruiting.

Could've done much better than this. Was a TE coach really a necessity considering Miles has coached it in his career?

Not a horrible hire but not a great one either.

Miles COULD have done much better than Brick Haley as well, but yeah, hiring a TE coach was a necessity. LSU has some really talented Tight Ends and we needed somebody that at least has coached TE's before. (Miles doesn't have the time to be a position coach for the TE's.) I'll have to check into Yanowsky's PLAYING background, because I have a real problem hiring coaches that have never actually played the position, either in J.C., big boy College or the Pro's. Unless Yanowsky was a former Tight End or Wide Receiver himself, then it's a mediocre hire. We need somebody that can develop Branch, Edwards and maybe get just a little bit more out of Dickson..........

You aren't hiring Jackshit. You've had "Big problems" with every Coach Les Miles has hired.

I kind of agree, but I will just say that I believe John Chavis played Defensive Tackle and is known to be a great Linebacker coach. I wouldn't say that this thought process always works, but I agree...to hire a somewhat low profile guy to coach an integral position for our offense I would also like the coach to have played the position...not a deal breaker for me though.

I'm sure Mike Leach, Charlie Weis, Mike Mangino, Paul Johnson and Dennis Franchione would agree.
