Pretty cool interview my son did with Xavier Atkins. He was able to interview Charles Scott as well that night.

Might want to bring an outline with him.

Even the pros don't just wing it.

Needs to listen to the answer.

Well he is 12 years old so expecting him to be Chris Berman is probably easy for you. I am trying to make it fun for him and the players he likes to “wing it” as you say.

The coaches he interviews he has a list of questions but depending on the direction the conversation goes is how he takes it.

Sounds like you are a real pro and know a lot about interviewing people for kid.

That kid is a better interviewer than any Pro I have ever seen. He ask question because he wants to know truly. I also think he does not intimidate the player because he is a kid. Some times I see these interviews and the person interviewing can not get things out of the player like this. Its seems uncomfortable for the player. This does not. Do more of these. come up to Monroe and get Heard on record. I would like to hear about the change from Bastrop High to Neville. I hear Neville made him a better player.

Thanks, we are trying to reach out to L.Heards coach to set up an interview and give him his Plaque. My son got all the players for his All North La Team a really nice plaque.

No need to get defensive. Nobody was expecting Chris Berman.

I understand that he is a kid. I have a kid the same age.

The introduction with the player endorsements and the logo suggests that someone invested some time and money in this project.

The fact that someone spent money buying plaques for players similarly suggests that someone takes this project very seriously.

with that much effort and interest, I'm sure he'd like to get better at interviews. I was merely trying to help with some positive tips.

I interview people just about everyday.

It might sound simple, but the most important part of an interview is the questions. It helps to be prepared with research and/or outlines to know what to ask.

It also helps to listen to the interviewee's answers to know what to ask next.

Thanks Guys.

Sorry Salviati, I get defensive when it comes to my son and I know how TD can get. Tough Crowd for sure.

We always have a long list of research on everyone he interviews. He has interviewed alot of really cool people like Charlie Ward, Kyle Williams and Brandon Wilson. He has interviews lined up with Coach Kim Mulkey, Ex WNBA star and Karl Malones daughter Cheryl Ford and NFL Legend Doug Williams. Before any interview I make my son do a research paper on that person and we make a long list of questions. With high school players I let him "wing it" and he loves doing that and I have been enjoying seeing him have fun with it.

With a 12 year old and me knowing his personality, I have to keep it fun for him or he will realize its work and not fun to him anymore. I know all parents think their kids are Mike Trout, Lebron James or Joe Burrow, but I truly believe he has some talent with talking to people and knows alot more about sports then most kids his age.

I am just planting the seed and watching it grow.

Thanks for all the help guys and honest opinions

Only enough to tell him to NOT go into the business of predicting what 17 year olds want to do for college...
