We are at 19. It is evident we will not get everyone we were hoping to get like McFarland, S'Filo, Telfort, Mingo, Jones and Randall. We still have to count Duplessis also.

With Benton and Duplessis that puts us at 21, so look for us to sign 25. If one or two of the big recruits want to commit we'll sign them, and they will make the numbers work.

correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Benton count toward the 08 class? Also I heard Duplessis will also not be accounted for this class.

That leaves me to think its Debose, Loston, Mingo, Randle, Xavier Su'Filo(counts in 2010), Jones.

If Duplessis and Benton enroll in January, they count towards the 08 class.

Will any 09 signees greyshirt and enroll in January 2010 and count toward the next class?

You can work it either way, from what I understand.

Only one of Duplessis and Benton can count retroactively because 24 were signed last year. Two players in this signing class will greyshirt.

It's not the 25 to worry about. It's the overall 85.

At 84 overall right now + 15 graduating seniors = 16 open spots for next year.

which is why the golden number was the low 20'2, like 22.

I have no clue how it got to 25?

I thought I had heard Miles say something along the lines of it being at or close to 25. I think Claiborne was given a scholarship because someone has the coaches feeling bad about a certain prospect or verbal. We won't end up with the class we thought we were going to have.

dreaux the rumor was that Janzen was wavering on his commitment, and not only that someone took it further saying he was a lean to Bama now.

We all know how every LA prospect is a Bama lean.

Factor in transfers, and players who have career ending injuries, the numbers change....

I would have to say 6 spots. I just dont see LSU turning down these guys:

1)Randle
2)Debose
3)Loston
4)Jones
5)Mingo
6)DT (mcfarland/williams)

Should be interesting how it all plays out.

This is spot on.

I'm trying to remember how much attrition we had last year...

Derrick Odom - Kicked Off
Ryan Perrilloux - Kicked Off
Jarvis Jones - Kicked Off
J.D. Lott - Transfer
Mark Snyder - Transfer
Max Holmes - Transfer
Matt Allen - Injury
Jordon Corbin - Injury

I think that's it. The coaches are obviously hoping for something similar, or more-so at this point. If not, we might see a record amount of gray-shirts
