I don't mind dissenting posts here... but at least be honest with them
don't say we can't recruit QBs since Jamarcus after we've recruited 3 4+ star qbs since... stuff like that

You are right that LSU has been a QB graveyard as of late, but the question is why? Miles can recruit, we know that. The opportunity is there and the skill players are in place to make your job very easy. Is there something inherent in Baton Rouge water that turns QB's off? I know Louisiana has had a shitty run of good quarterbacks the last few years, but I am still optimistic that we can bring in a recruit like Mettenberger.

Your answer is development has been subpar for some time now....
Crowton must go.........

LSU is a QB graveyard and most legit QBs know it.

Matt Flynn is the backup for the Green Bay Packers. Rohan was great, Mauck was okay. Dont confuse JJ/JL debacle with previous years.

I'm pretty confident that Zach Lee would fall into your "supposedly legit QB" category.

Obviously Sabes doesn't have a ton of confidence in McCarron. I don't blame him either. I thought he was terribly overrated..not only did he not look like a bluechip, he looked pretty shitty, imo
I thought McCarron was too small and would get killed once in college. I think he looks solid. I also think he is much better than McElroy now, but they weren't going to change it at this point.
It would be dumb of Mett to go to Bama when he is a year behind two other solid prospects in the system. They also would have the same amount of eligibility as him.
Mett comes to LSU and there is no way he doesn't start at least 2012 and 2013. Also there is no way we don't get a new OC/QB coach so he will probably be in the SMS position as JJ and JL.

LSU is a QB graveyard and most legit QBs know it. What is it, 7 years since Saban signed Flynn/Russel? Nothing since then except T.C McCartney, Barret Baily, Jordan Jefferson, plus a few other non-factors who can't be coached up and move to other positions or end up transferring. The only supposedly legit QB signed has been Jarret Lee. This may or may not turn out well, but so far he's only been MARGINALLY SUCCESSFUL.
This is stupid.
Regardless of what happened with Zach Lee, he was here. Miles can be blamed for not getting another guy as an insurance policy, but he can't be blamed for a kid opting to take a couple mil to go play pro baseball.
The QB problem at LSU is multi-fold:
A) Two QBs were rushed onto the field when the heir apparent was kicked off the team.
B) Neither of the two QBs rushed onto the field has been properly coached.
C) I'd say a legitimate argument could be made that neither of the two QBs were ever quite as good as their recruiting rankings indicated. (Which is also a failure of the staff to evaluate).

Tide makes offer to former UGA QB Mettenberger
Posted by John Taylor on October 28, 2010 1:51 PM ET
With a scholarship offer from one SEC school already in his hip pocket, former Georgia quarterback Zach Mettenberger has now found himself on the receiving end of yet another from the same conference.
According to kellinjohnson.com by way of Mr. SEC.com, Mettenberger has recently received a scholarship offer from Nick Saban and Alabama. The Tide offer comes a little less than two months after Mettenberger got an offer from LSU.
In addition to the interest from the two SEC schools, Mettenberger has also drawn the interest of Texas A&M. The quarterback is scheduled to visit College Station this weekend.
There is no word on any other schools that may have an interest -- Cincinnati and Louisville were rumored to have inquired about the QB early on in the process -- nor is there any indication as to when Mettenberger will make a decision on a school for the 2011 season.
Mettenberger was arrested and hit with several charges following a spring break incident back in March, but participated in UGA's spring practice and was in a battle for the starting job with current starter Aaron Murray throughout. Shortly after the end of spring practice, however, Mettenberger was abruptly dismissed from the football program; two weeks or so after his dismissal, Mettenberger pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery (i.e. "grabbing the breasts and touching the buttocks of the victim").
In August, Mettenberger enrolled at Butler (Kan.) Community College and is currently the school's starting QB.

Isn't this what normally happens on spring break???
Since when does sexual battery = grabbing breasts and touching buttocks at spring break??

well I'm not going to say it's uncommon on spring break - but that pretty much is sexual battery

Bear Bryant did this shite all the time or he would send a player to bowden at FLA ST.
That's half right. He would do that in the 60s, when Bowden was at Samford (Howard College then).

Maybe he is waiting to be sure we get a new offensive coordinator
Possible this.
I know a UGA guy who keeps in touch with Mettenberger. He says that Mettenberger, while not asking directly if Crowton will be around next year, has asked Miles if our offense will "take a new direction." So far, Miles has not answered this question...and that creates doubt/concern for Mettenberger.
I cannot confirm this in any way, so TIFWIW. Still, it would in no way surprise me if this was legit.

Don't know why we offered except needing a third qb. Speculation is Simms may be wanting to transfer and also that Saban is just trying to keep him away from LSU ofcourse all of that is speculation because this offer came out of left field. I think AJ will be a better qb than Bama has had in a long time and Simms has a big arm.

Another guy on this board posted some stuff last week about how he knew a trainer at the CC Mett goes to. Says Mett was told GC will resign at end of year. Not saying either one of ya'll are wrong, but there will be lots of info being spread over the next couple of weeks about this guy.
