We are among the final choices for 4 of the state of Virginia's top 7 recruits. All 4 are ranked inside the top 200 on 247's composite list and this group of 7 also rounds out 247's top 300 for recruits in that state. They are OT Tristan Leigh, DE Kelvin Gilliam, DT Tyleik Williams, and DE/LB Naquan Brown. All 4 seem to be in contact with each other and they have voiced their opinions on wanting to play together. It would be insane to go into Virginia and bring all 4 to BR. Amazing job by our recruiters. GEAUX TIGERS!

K.G top 10
Well considering we're a common factor for all 4. Don't count us out yet. Also Kelvin Gilliam put this out today.

HS usually end up at Tech but like the kid we had committed for a bit last year, Gilliam is more if a national level recruit.
Gilliam is good but I'd think if we pressed for him we'd have to drop Hundley, or somebody. Unless we know we aren't getting Koht or Foreman.
The DT has to a secondary target even though I've heard we really like him. Have to leave space to entice Smith even more.

Tony Grimes 5 star corner out of Virginia Beach committed to UNC today, I was hoping we could've pulled him.

I think Williams is leaning with Brown and Leigh. Our virtual tours for recruits have/will continue making a huge impact and it also speaks volumes on the lengths our recruiters are willing to go to for prospects.

I work in the school system up here, and have spoken to his father a few times. He said Tony loved coach Raymond, but I never got the impression he wanted his son to go too far from home.

His dad was really general when talking recruiting with me. If your a top cb and want to go far from home, I can't see any other choice but LSU. He probably wanted to stay close.

We also had Malcom Greene from Virginia last year until Clemson stole him late.

It is pretty interesting we have a bit of a foothold in Virginia recently. It's definitely a good state to have a presence in with the amount of talent and lack of top level in state programs.

I live in Virginia and college football here may as well not exist, so why wouldn't these kids want to leave the state?

What Gilliam says about LSU:

quote:

LSU: “They got in pretty late but going back to the 4-3 defense with a new defensive coordinator and with Coach O (Ed Orgeron), it is just exciting to see a head coach who was a previous defensive line coach at other places. Bringing in (defensive line) coach (Bill) Johnson from the NFL is a great addition.”

His 247 profile:
247
Ironically his scouting profile compares him to Davon Godchaux.
