Brumfeld graduating. Campbell doesn't seem to be developing very quickly. Does the staff plug a hole on the OL roster with another OG like Lewis in the '19 class?

Kardell starts day 1, so that helps.

This, he will start at guard right away. I also think he could be a potential RT down the road if we continue to struggle there some.

I would think Thomas starts day one as well.
And you have Chasen Hines and presumably Lewis comes back to start as a senior.
But behind them it doesn't appear Campbell is going to contribute?
Your 2 deep may be a man short at guard?

Lots of unknowns where we could need a JUCO guy desperately or have plenty of depth.

Could have a loaded 2-deep with Campbell, Ingram, Lewis, Hines, and Thomas.

Or be in a disaster situation where you NEED a JUCO guy and a tackle transitioned to guard because you only return Hines and Campbell.

I think it would be foolish to count on having Ingram. As far as Campbell, may not want to bury the guy, but there has been ample opportunity for him to get some PT with all the injuries, suspensions, etc. and he still isn't seeing the field?

I would argue we need a JUCO tackle (that is ready to play) more than we'd need a guard. I'd try to get the best LT I could find in JUCO and if he's better than Charles, I'd slide Charles over to RT.

It seems that the staff prefers Deculus at OG but he's playing tackle out of necessity. Who knows if Traore will ever improve enough to be an above average tackle. Magee is solid, but we're one Sahdiq Charles injury away from being pretty bad at tackle.

I agree. Some scoff at the idea because he's not particularly tall or long. But damn, he's got awesome footwork.

He's the anti-Traore... where Traore's length can make up for some lack of agility, Kardell's agility can make up for a lack of length.

All that matters is get into position. If you can do that with frame, fine. If you can do that with feet, fine.

Kardell would have to slim down some to maximize that agility, but that is a controllable and doable task.

And like you said: "down the road". I find it unlikely first year, much less day 1 (at OT).

It looks like Bradford may actually project more as a guard now.

He plays tackle, but he has gotten gigantic (380ish).

many thought this when he first committed. I gave it a chance he may develop into and OT.

but that seals it... he's a OG now. He should start practicing snapping and be ready for C.

Extemely difficult to find a SEC ready tackle from the JUCO ranks, much less a left tackle.
Not sure why we'd want to move Charles to RT. He seems to be developing into one of the top LT's in the SEC as a true sophomore?
Other tackles coming back presumably are Traore, Deculus, Rosenthal and Magee. Then you have Wire redshirting. We still need to add a high school tackle, not sure if Perry and/or Bradford are college guards or right tackles? But, sure if you can find a SEC ready LT out of JUCO by all means go for it, but that's going to be extremely difficult to find.

Barring injuries, or the return of Ingram, your tackles will be Saddiq and Deculus, and your guards will be Hines and Lewis. I doubt Kardell bumps either of those. They love Lewis, and I think Hines will be our best lineman given a year to develop.

Either way, with Cushenberry at center, we should have a nice starting five. And if Ingram comes back we will have some depth.

If his move is permanent, no matter what happens the rest of this year on the field, I'd be surprised if Dare isn't starting at a tackle spot in 2019. He just has talent that few guys out there do, let alone guys on LSU's roster.

I agree here. Our future OTs are Dare R and Cameron W. Both will be our best tackles since the Saban days. I think Traore will be good by the end of the season. If Deculus takes it over he could come in and provide depth and maybe start at guard the next year or they could switch back depending on whether he improves that much or not. I think we good at guard and need another OT. Guards are so much easier to find and get committed.

You're really underestimating how good Kardell is.

He's starting as a freshman.

Cush is far from great right now. We could possibly see Hines move there to make room for Kardell.

All I know is that Orgeron subscribes to the Pete Carroll USC philosophy where talent is more important than seniority. If a freshman is better, he will play.

Deculus is a guard forced to play T. Our top 4 OT next year will be Charles, Magee, Rosenthal, and Wire
If Rosenthal or Wire end up being best 5 Magee could end up moving to G

I think Ray Parker has more talent than Cam Wire. I'd be texting him every night to make sure he's hitting the books.
