Saban worked for Bellicheck and the two are still somewhat close. It's not a real secret that there's a lot of mutual respect there.

So much so that he has one back up lineman on his team -- a lineman he drafted at the end of the last round of the draft.

Yeah, he really thinks a lot of Saban's players.

Really?

Here's the New England roster --

New England Roster

From my counting, there are 2 players from Bama. One has been in the league for 6 years so he has nothing to do with Saban.

The other is a part-time player drafted at the bottom of the seventh round.

The only LSU players on the roster are Kevin Faulk (before Saban's time here) and Steven Ridley (after Saban's time here).

The moral of the story -- STOP TALKING OUT OF YOUR arse.

This is your rebuttal? It's awful.

Here is a blurb from Don Bank's (CNNSI) most recent mock draft. Now, keep in mind that Banks is one of the more respected and knowledgeable NFL writers in the country. Here is what he says about the Patriots and Saban in discussing the thirty second pick in the 2012 draft:

"Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama. Again, the Patriots need more playmakers in their defensive front seven, and we know Bill Belichick tends to trust players who have been coached by either Nick Saban or Urban Meyer."

Acknowledge reality. Saban is respected in the NFL. That's one reason so many of his players are drafted.

LINK

P.S. Your roster analysis is pretty laughable because it discounts all of the Saban players that the Patriots signed or drafted and are simply no longer on the team: Green, Hill, Gay, Alexander, etc. Remember, my contention concerned drafting, because that is what recruits consider.

First, no need to be juvenile. Second, yes, I trust the information provided by a seasoned NFL writer with access to NFL coaches and players more than I trust your very superficial internet roster analysis. Third, your analysis was flawed because "the facts" failed to account for Green, Hill, Alexander, and Gay, amongst others, all of whom played under Bellicheck coming out of college.

Again, the simply reality is that Saban is respected by the NFL. No one really disputes this.

Kid had been committed since September and took no other visits. Shows up to school yesterday with an Alabama hat on and goes to sign and is told they have no room for him because 2 other players committed to Alabama yesterday putting them over the limit. So, he bails on the 3 star DLineman for the new guys.

What a liar.

This is one of the reasons he has not, as of yet, stayed in one place very long - it has a cumulative effect. In this case, the kid's HS coach is siding with Saban - but that won't last. The 25 rule is going to be tough on Saban for the rest of his time at Tuscaloosa/Austin.

How much of that was the NFL scouts that Belichick used to have (like Pioli and the other guy)? Because ever since those guys left, there have been some poor talent evaluations, especially on defense.

See my last post. I understand the circumstances are slightly different, but if you don't consider it similar in terms of pulling the rug out from under a kid due to preference of another kid, it's due to your own bias as far as I'm concerned. Your side is good the other side is bad.

A roster is superficial? You should look that word up. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Well, when employed the way he tried to, certainly. The question is whether Saban is respected by the NFL. I posted that Belicheck has a stated preference for Saban's players coming out of college. He responded with a roster analysis which fails to account for at least four Saban players that the Patriots took out of college by one route or another. Hence, his two second survey of the current roster is really inapposite because if fails to address the underlying question.

That's not suprising, though, coming from a poster who thought that is was (emoticon) laughable that Saban is respected in the NFL. No one who knows the NFL disagrees.

I agree, he is a great coach, no disputing that, but the media fawns all over him and never talks about stuff like this.

Cue Bama fans to call us butthurt

Four guys over 11 years is your example of how much Belichik loves and drafts Saban's players above all other coaches?

Really?

Randall Gay wasn't even drafted.

Eric Alexander wasn't even drafted and was a spot player at best.

Since we're talking recruiting, Jarvis Green was a Dinardo recruit.

So, you're left with Marquis Hill as your "big" example. A second round pick who played in nine games over two years?

Yeah, stick to third grade. One day you might learn something.

Nice job of defection here by the Bama fans and Saban apologists. Miles lets a little milk from his cereal run on his chin at breakfast and we hear for weeks how he is a retard. Saban pulls a scholarship on a guy who has been committed for months right before signing day because he had a chance for someone else and we're talking about the Patriots and Belichik.

Nice.

No one has answered how in the world Philon was going to greyshirt when Saban took 26 in this class. How was Alabama going to backcount him? Was Philon just supposed to TRUST that Saban would hold a spot open for him for next year's class? At least he is not stupid.

Saban is a liar and his whole team is made up of kids and families who believe his lies. He sits on a throne of lies and smells like beef and cheese.
