but the entire depth chart has an averge weight of 301 lbs...and has too many 270-290 guys...
I don't care how much they weigh, without a coach who stresses technique ,fundamentals and attention to details weight won't matter. It is the lack of coaching the O-line that is the problem. Good O-Lines look like a machine, our O-Line looked like a chinese fire drill. It's all about coaching. We have the talent, some of which have been sitting on the bench, unfortunately.

To say, if these freshmen and redshirt freshmen were any good why did n't they play this year??? C'mon man....how ignorant? Because they are freshmen and redshirt freshmen and they had guys ahead of them on the depth chart with two to three years more SEC experience, National Championship experience ahead of them. Is that so hard to fathom?
Second, we did not lose Hardrick to nebraska. He did not take care of business and get the grades he needed to play at an SEC school. He was lazy this year and our coaches had pretty much cooled on his ability. Nevertheless, if he had taken care of business he would probably would have been a Tiger. His schollie got pulled, we did not lose him. He lost himself.
Aside from all that, a good football fan should always worry about the linemen you have on your team. You really cannot have enough good ones.
To the guy bad mouthing Blackman from alabama in another thread, you are ignorant. The kid performed in a camp and reminded coaches of Glenn Dorsey in ability...remember him? Why under those circumstances, wouldn't they offer a kid that performed like that? bama had no room for him and there was concern about his grades. He may not qualify, but seeing him in camp showed our coaches enough that made him too good to pass on. Whose to say other schools who did not offer him did not make a mistake?
Why do you think ucla is all of a sudden on Marsh? He was right there and they missed on their evaluation of him, until his Army Allstar performance. It aint a perfect science, but some of you guys keep acting like it is. Remember Trinden Holliday was a two star recruit on Scout.com....gee, great analysis there, huh? Good thing our coaches did not pay attention to what someone else thought of a player they themselves liked.

I am worried as well. I think it is a horrible idea to recruit all linemen one year and none the next. People keep pointing out all the linemen we recruited last year so we don't need them this year. I am pretty sure LSU will still have a football program in the future when all those guys on the depth chart graduate, quit or transfer.
We need lineman and a few wide receivers in THIS recruiting class. And yes I know they will not help us improve the 2009 football season.

I think Jordan Allen would be perfect as an OT
Too skinny he is built to play DE. he has a ridiculous amount of potential as a DE

The problem is Les bought into the "Smaller, More Athletic Linemen" idea of our OC. This set us back a couple years. Look at the guys we are recruiting next year. A different breed.

I also would like to have either Robinson, Moses, or Stone for this class.

they didnt play because of hit and ciron and barksdale. those were the most proven and they were not going to start soph and frshamen over seniors on the oline even though i felt they should have had more pt. lonergan and blackwell especially.

neither Center impressed me
Lonergan was a redshirt freshman who played in 2 games. Give the kid some fricking time please.

WHY IS NOONE WORRIED ABOUT THE O-LINE?
Because he's a PAC-10 fan?

Lonergan was rated as one of the best run blocking O-linemen to ever come out of Louisiana. His dad and uncle both played for LSU.

I'm not worried at all. Should I seek help, become entirely cynical or just make better use of my time than reading this board?

You're right, it is a horrible idea to recruit all linemen one year and none the next. That is probably why the staff isn't doing that.
We need better line play, everyone knows that. But the guys that will have to get it done are already on campus. If we piled in a bunch of OL this year we would be neglecting other positions that have a more pressing need from a numbers stand point. The numbers on the OL are fine. If you are concerned about the play from this season you are about 2 years late to address it from a recruiting point of view.

They have plenty of good players. They just need to put them on the field.

We certainly aren't doing it by choice but the end result is that is what is happening. I am concerned. I believe the coaches had good intentions and we lost two big guys that decommited. So not pissed at the coaches just don't see (like the original poster) the concern on the board here.

Bengal Brian...
I just have a hard time taking this seriously. If any other coach thought they were looking at the next Glenn Dorsey then they would have made room for him. But hey, I'm not the one they pay millions of dollars to make those decisions; I could be wrong.
adammwilson...
Then he will probably be moved to OL.

I am. I think we could use a couple of 340 lb roadgraders for all these RBs we are signing.
Remember big Herm blocking for Scott. The guy had a 1,000+ yd season.
Yes we have a many OL on the roster, but only 1 or 2 would be considered roadgraders. Half are under 300 lbs.
