He's a 6'6 TE and he's a Louisiana kid. I saw that he just committed to Umass.

Probably because he's not good enough.

I think the better question is why didn't anybody besides 2 college football powerhouses, such as UMass & South Alabama, offer him?

Pretty Loaded at TE. With smith and Washington ahead of him class wise, possibly 2 TE in the same class as him, and pettigrew behind him its probably best he go somewhere else.

He does look pretty good imo. I think he's got potential. He'll need to bulk up though. But as far as LSU is concerned, there's really no need for him.

I am surprised that schools like Tech or ULM didn't offer.

People need to get over size and weight and every LA prospect we miss on. LSU can't sign everyone and there are prospects out of state LSU really wants.
LSU brings most prospects into camps at some point and time and that's where a lot of evaluation work is done, than they monitor them through their season. They generally know who is going to be able to line up and play SEC football a lot more than some recruiting service.
At the end of the day, it's about finding 25 guys that at some point may be able to play SEC football. Sometimes you do need to focus on specific positions but not at the expense of taking a marginal player.

If he puts on 20 lbs he's going to be a stud. He's a tweener right now

20 lbs? Kid needs to put on about 50-60lbs, not lose any speed, and learn how to be an in-line blocker, in order to play big time D1. I'm sure he'll do well at UMass though

Well he is a 19 year old junior with a year left of high school. Most likely will end up juco if he graduates next year.

he went to summer school last year and is now on track to graduate in May. His last ACT scores were really good too. As of right now he on track to qualify. Please don't post off hearsay.
