It's really a couple of things IMO.

1) As other posters have stated LSU has gained a well deserved reputation as having a not so friendly QB system. Other schools use that against them.
2) O has foolishly cast doubt as to whether MC will be here next year effectively hampering QB recruitment. Also being used by other schools.

After the A&M game, O said Canada may be looking for a HC job, and he would support that.

LINK

O said he had other OC options in mind, and even went as far as to say that he would consider Ensminger as a replacement. That led to speculation as whether temporary (bowl game only) or permanent.

No other press conference or official statements since the confusion.

And I believe he answered a question, not making a statement.

Not sure why you’re responding to me with someone else’s quote. But it’s pretty apparent that O has cast doubt when there are multiple articles on the subject if you would choose to use Google.

I just chose to link one.

He should have said as far as he knows Matt Canada will be here. He then followed that up with I want pro style which contradicts what he said when he was hired. You can be sure that is also being used against LSU in QB recruiting.

I’m sorry you’re willfully being obtuse, and there’s not much I can do about that.

Regardless, O left himself open to others questioning Canada’s future. Enough so, that there are multiple articles floating in the media. And you can damn well be sure other teams are seizing the opportunity for negative recruiting against LSU.

As there always are.

As they always do.

Just seems strange that Canada is not seen in any stories/pictures concerning recruiting trips. Almost seems like he is not recruiting because he is too busy looking for a HC job. May not even give a shite about a qb.

If he doesn't want to be here . . .

Well we had a preseason Heisman candidate at running back and we had receivers who showed they could make plays on the jet sweep. If I remember correctly, there was much talk about Canada’s offense being able to adapt to personnel that he has. Etling was a good game manager but wasn’t going to light it up for 300 passing yards per game. I think the coaches ought to be able to explain those things to recruits. The recruits should be able to see that you can’t judge an offense based off of one season with a senior quarterback.

My assumption would be that we have a freshman who'll potentially be starting next year as a soph, and also a redshirt freshman who could possibly be waiting his turn when Brennan leaves. Could be a long wait to start.

I realize it'll be an open competition, but I'm sure the recruits don't look at it entirely like that- considering they know Brennan saw time on the field this year.

Again, I'm only guessing.. But it makes sense.

I think reasonable people can differ about whether Orgeron intentionally set out top create doubt about Canada staying at LSU. I think he did create that doubt and did so intentionally.
What there should be no doubt about is that Orgeron could clarify the uncertainty he has created anytime he wants. He obviously chooses to leave it where it is...
