After reading all the comments from CBK, sounds like maybe one TE and the other two slots focused on the OL, which I am good with that too. But I know he will jump on a great opportunity athlete at any position.

We have three spots left for current players targeted or needed "Spring replacements". Best I can decipher is that the deadline to add for Fall sports is May 1.

I think it will likely be OL, TE, and.... another QB.
If Brennan & Nuss leave after the spring, there's no way Kelly will go into the season with 2 scholarship QBs on the roster.

Why would nuss leave after spring??? To go be the 3rd string qb somewhere else where hell be behind since he didn’t partake in their spring camp??

Most of the OL I have seen in the portal or discussed on The Rant have signed elsewhere. Do you know of any OL players in the portal we are currently targeting? My understanding is that players only have until May 1 to declare for the portal to be eligible for this year which is now less than two weeks away.

I will assume that this is not sarcasm, but a sincere position concern of yours. Currently we have two Kickers listed on the roster including incoming Freshman Nathan Dilbert who was the #2 Kicker in the country according to Kohl's 2022 Kicker ratings. He has the leg to do both kickoffs and FGs, but yes not experienced as a grad transfer would be.

The 2nd Kicker is Soph Ezekeal Mata. I am not sure we want to carry 3 kickers, but I may be wrong. I think a big play TE to improve Red Zone / short yardage efficiency and OL depth may be a higher priority at this point.

Kohl’s ranks kickers strangely, but zero doubt that Dibert has the leg to kickoff day one in the SEC. His HS Sr stats were 7/12 on FGs. He did win a Kohl’s camp in FGs, but also fell out of the top 20 at another. Most HS kids don’t really have a kicking coach to work with constantly…so I’m sure he can clean it up with LSU’s new staff.
Zeke is full ride academic, I think he was top 60 or so with Kohl’s.
I would REALLY like Dibert to take the reigns and kick exceptionally through 22, 23 and 24…so LSU takes a 25. Probably need another academic or walk on to be a 24 backup. There’s a VERY good 24 out of Shreveport named Abram, he could ruin it for the 25s by taking the spot early.

Still looks like there are a large number of players in the transfer portal with the May 1 deadline approaching. But my understanding is that May 1st is the deadline to enter the portal and not the deadline to be signed by a team.

Yes. 5/1 is the deadline (outside of SEC to SEC transfers) to put your name in the portal and be eligible immediately.

Lol what? I'm not hating on Sevyn Banks at all but he started in 15 games for Ohio state over 4 years and was all big 10 honorable mention in 2020 when they played 8 games.

I saw where Ohio St. Safety Andre Turrentine and Arizona St. LB Eric Gentry (he is the highest ranked uncommitted Portal player on the list below) are in the portal now and mention that Utah TE Dalton Kincaid could be entering the portal.
I am still thinking we are looking for a TE but would not be surprised if we signed another LB and/or CB. I have not seen a lot of info on new Center prospects.
