I think the info that you get at Scout is a lot better than Rivals, but Rivals carries a LOT more videos of prospects.
When we were recruiting the Dwyer trio, I found it odd that Scout didn't have any video except O'Leary's sophomore film (they now have senior film for Brissett and O'Leary). Still wish we had made a better impact on those 3
I have a subscription to TSD just because Shea and Sonny knock Scike out the water

There is a huge flaw in this methodology in so far as it does not take into account that player production is not entirely in the player's hands. For instance, WR "A" signs with an SEC power who's offense has no identity and lacks in QB play, WR "B" though originally signed with the same team, switches to another SEC team who is young and agressive on offense and also lacks other viable receiving options. WR "B" is predictably going to show better production thean WR "A" though he may or may not have been ranked as high by the ranking agencies.
This is just one instance that comes to mind which may scew the production but not indicate that the palyers were ranked incorrectly. Not sure there is an accurate way to gage this, it just is.
over a large enough sample time, these are negligible.

How so?
This is why it is such a mystery. There are too many elements that go into creating and becoming an elite football player. Too many for any service to evaluate.

Thats why i think he did a good job of dividing up categories...you have to remember that the rankings of players are being compared to other rankings by other sites, all having the same advantages and disadvantages and the focus is not so much comparing rankings to production.
Thus i think it is important to look at all the categories and perhaps most importantly in your example "full-time starter"
ETA: meaning...no matter how bad your qb, for the player not to be a bust he should at least be a full-time starter on that team

I'm not a huge fan of some of the homer writers and analysts at 247 but I do think their rankings of players in this particular calss are more in line with my thinking.Only problem is that the database sucks over there. To find a player not in the 247(plus a few more) you have to actually search for the players name. Not a huge deal but ilike to just go to a commit page and see the kids ratings or position rankings. They are very friendly(and right) about some of our Rivals 3* guys on there. They even have D'haquille Williams rated in the top 150 on there. They have done their scouting.

Whichever ranks LSU the highest!

Honestly, the best recruiting service is the one that gives the Tigers the most 5 stars. For example, we have three blue chips on Rivals but only two on ESPN. But prior to the updated FINAL rankings on Rivals, we only had one (L.Collins)
It sounds lame but it is the truth. I, like most Tiger fans, will like the recruiting company that hooks us up with the highest ranking.
