When was the last time LSU recruited a true HS center?

Went back to see the last center we recruited out of high school.

I soon realized that this is sort of impossible since On3/Rivals only breaks down the O-line by Tackles and IOL. (ESPN has a center list LINK)

But seriously when was the last time we recruited a true center? I can't remember the last time I heard us going after one on the trail and I feel like I follow recruiting a good bit.

*I now understand you wouldn't play your best o-lineman at center in HS*

Cushenberry
Charles Turner was sorta recruited as a center I remember? I believe he was a TE/Tackle candidate at one point as well.

Probably because most high schools aren't going to play their best OL at center. Most of them will be playing tackle but when they move up they have to move inside.

Thats what I'm thinking. I don't think we have taken one in several classes

Thats what I'm saying. I guess there are fewer and fewer prospects playing the position these days. ESPNs list has 1 or 2 of the centers ranked highly the last few classes maybe we should take a stab at one in the next class

I believe it's most likely Coen Echols.

High school centers usually aren't D1 level OLs. Smaller, but the most reliable snapping the ball on the team. The highly talented guys play G or OT.

At least in my experience.

Van Pran made it clear, from day 1, that he was never coming here.

Frustrating, but it's hard to "miss" on a guy you never had a shot with.

The best college centers are the best high school guards with high GPAs

why? Les had his faults but offensive line play was usually pretty strong and physical under him. Guys like Elliot porter, Pocic, PJ Lonergan & TBob were really solid centers.

Les didn't have the problem BK is experiencing, his Oline were tough.
