ESPN had 4-star kickers all the time prior to 2012. Taylor Bertelot was a 4 star and he can't even make an extra point. LINK

I've never seen higher than a 3 star on any other site and ESPN stopped giving 4 stars to kickers too.

Actually Rivals had 4 star kickers in 2002, but none since. It all depends on how the site feels like doing their rankings.

Scout has had a bunch of 4 stars over the years too, but Scout sucks.

Now if you're talking about the kicking sites like Chris Sailer, they rank kickers 5 stars all the time, but they are a self promoting brand looking to scam people into paying for their camps.

Michael Palardy? He might have had the best offer list I've ever seen for a kicker. Was still a 3 star. And he ended up being pretty bad in college.

I thought at some point he was rated 4 stars. I remember there being some interest because he was supposedly high on lsu.

He was a 4 star on scout, you're right. I forgot Scout even existed though. They have a bunch of 4 stars as well throughout the years.

I've only seen consensus three stars. Never a consensus four star.

What a dumb question, its not like kickers are important.

The star system is crap the way they implement it. A better way to do it is to have a least one five star at every position. If you are the best kicker in the country then you are a five star.

Is a 5 star qb more important? Certainly but when recruiting a kicker all you are looking at is kickers. 3 star means middle of the road talent. It is stupid to basically say no kickers are better than middle of the road at their position.

Tried to find how many stars Sebastian Janikowski was rated. He is by far the most hyped kicker I remember coming out of highschool. NFL scouts back then said he was ready for the NFL already.

"countdown to signing day" used to hype Janikowski bigtime. id say he was a 4 star. probably a 4* by forrest davis and maybe a 9-9.25 in Jeff Whittaker. those were the services then.

Dunno, but I was in South Carolina yesterday and made a sales call to the NCAA first time ever 50 yard/avg punter:

Dr. Chad Kessler.

I forgot that he is 6-4.

He and witten were simply a field position weapon.

Nice find higgins. I figure he has to be the highest rated kicker over the course of the last 20 years.

thanks. i remember watching "countdown to signing day". the show that is responsible for the douchebag, "look at me", live tv commit. also started the very tired and played out "hat dance". Jamie Newberg just salivated over Janikowski. IIRC, in his sr. season, he had all touchbacks on kickoffs. Janikowski is one tough sob. a beer drinkin, hell raisin polish rugby player. bet he's seen several bar and pubs scraps in his day.
