In LSU history if you go by results on the field? 2009, 2010, 2011, or another class?

Devery was in the 2000 class.

I think Webster was too.

ETA: Melvin Oliver, Ronnie Prude, Travis Daniels, Shyrone Carey (even though he graduated HS in 2000). All in the 2001 class. TE David Jones was a big contributor.

Devery and Corey were 2000, but Addai was also in 2001.

Also Travis Daniels and Shyrone I believe.

2001 was a great class as well with Marcus Spears, Michael Clayton, Joseph Addai, Marquise Hill, Andrew Whitworth, Ben Wilkerson and others. It might be hard to beat that one lol.

And Bennie Brazzell, Nate Livings, and Brandon Washington.

Livings, Whitworth, Washington, Niswanger, and Wilkerson all started on the offensive line at some point. Not spot starts, but like for a whole season. How often do you get 5 OL starters from one recruiting class?

Who would have predicted that Whitworth would have far and away the best NFL career?

On that signing day.

When it was all said and done LSU lost these players from that class:

2014 - ranked 2nd:

5-star Clifton Garrett 3rd ranked player in class

4-star Brandon Harris 6th
4-star Trey Quinn 7th
4-star Jevonte Domond
4-star Tony Upchurch
4-star Travonte Valentine

And Malachi Dupree was a 5-star in that class. I don't believe he ever reached his 5-star potential and went undrafted.

Yeah that class had the most talent. Look at who we had Fournette, Adams, Garrett, Dupree. 4 5 Stars. Fournette, and Adams both panned out. Garrett and Dupree looked to be first round picks eventually when they were in High School. Class also had Darrel Williams, D.J. Chark, Russell Gage who all performed well. Paris, Brumfield, Battle, who are still on the team. Clapp, Godcheaux, Trey Quinn all in the nfl now. Valentine was suppose to be incredible. Had all those guys performed like they should have it would have been our best class ever.

The 2009 Class was SICK

Sam Montgomery
Barkevious Mingo
Michael Brockers
Kevin Minter

These are all straight BEASTS

Josh Downs
Michael Ford

And I haven't even gotten into the four 5 stars!
5 star Craig Loston
5 star Rueben Randle
5 star Russell Shepard
5 star Chris Davenport

Then you still have a high NFL pick corner?

Morris Claiborne

You still have..
Lamin Barrow,
Tahj Jones,
Bennie Logan

This class directly lead to one of the greatest regular season teams of all time as Juniors..

Not sure how this class hasn't been mentioned.. It was perfect to build a championship around.

I think I still prefer the numbers and talent of 09 over 01.

I just can't get over how beastly Kevin Minter turned out to be.. One of the greatest MLB here of all-time.. along with 2 nfl starting defensive ends, a #1 type of corner. Then you have those other defensive linemen.. I believe Brockers went 14th overall..

Randle turned out to be a HUGE piece to the 2011 season.. respectable 8 TDs and nearly 1k receiving on a team that was protecting the football.

Just so much ridiculous talent in that 09 class.

I really think I will take the 09 class because of the amount of studs. Defensive is too sick and the offensive skill players had talent.. I forgot to add Akiem Hicks as well.. even if he didn't get to play for LSU, he did get a payday in the NFL.

This is really more subjective a topic than objective due to the fact other recruiting classes have a lot to do with how successful teams will be. I mean, I agree the 2001 class was a great class, but would there have been as much success without players from other classes? Would there have been a NC in 2003 without Matt Mauck, without Justin Vincent, without Chad Lavalais, Jack Hunt, Jesse Daniels, Laron Landry, Kirstin Pittman, Eric Alexander, Lionel Turner, Corey Webster and many more that had as much to do with the success on the field as those from the 2001 class. I believe a better measure of which recruiting class was the best would be how many went on to play in the NFL. There's just too many other factors that determine success on the field than recruits in a single recruiting class.

I’ll add this. The 2012 recruiting class prob had the most bang for its buck. Not a top 10 class but those guys really produced. About 9 players from that class are doing okay in the NFL.

Last years class will go down as one of the best ever. While all program vie heavily for the low hanging fruit of the blue chippers, Orgeron, and this staff are experienced top flight football coaches, and can evauate true talent. So we miss on a few prima donnas. Orgeron is killing it with finding gems the show boaters are overlooking.

You’re confusing Washington with someone else. He was a Defensive tackle who I think they moved to OL on spring but never stuck
