What was up w/ the lack of coverage on Underwood commitment ?

Was it the location?
Was it just a private thing? If so, how did Tom VanHaaren (ESPN) end up being the only media person there?
In the Twitter age where these recruiting sites are trying to out-scoop one another, how did none of them have representation there?
It was just weird to have to scramble at the last minute trying to find out where 1.1 in 2025 was going. Thankfully someone tipped off it was on his IG at the last minute.
It’s nuts that this wasn’t reported on better. I feel like someone missed out on a great opportunity to make some money/ gain clicks, subscribers, following, even though it would have cost some to get there. Figured at least one mercenary would have but the bullet.
Forgive me if this is a lame subject but it interests me, especially monitoring recruiting sites over the past few years. Realizing they are getting less & less information & the results are becoming even more unpredictable due to NIL. But you had something that has been planned here, something other than just innuendo & rumors, & totally missed the boat on reporting on it.

Because there's about a 70% chance he'll de-commit would be my guess.

I love it. Makes me even more comfortable that we have this kid locked up. He seems like a kid that isn’t looking for any drama. All business.

There wasn’t much drama and it’s a 25 commit making a decision very early. They aren’t going to be focusing on 25 guys while the 24 class isn’t complete and the first portal period is still winding down.
If Underwood had waited until March, he would have gotten more attention.

Huh?
He had a Christopher Nolan directed commitment motion picture and said this after:
quote:
LSU felt like home,” Underwood said. “The relationship I built with the coaching staff is unbreakable. I’ve never felt an atmosphere better than LSU’s. It’s unreal.

This isn’t even a shot at the lsu guys. Why wouldn’t Michigan On3 have someone there so that the lsu guys didn’t have to direct people to a competitor’s coverage?
Just weird

Was wondering the same thing, strange to say the least.

The decision is the decision until it’s not (hopefully not).
There were 15k watching his IG live. And no one knew it would even be announced there. Can’t really down play it that no one cared lol

Maybe he’s low key and not into all the fanfare associated with making a commitment which would make me like him even more

...because we're 11 months away until he's able to sign. A lot can change with this NIL chaos.

I’m going to say that he’s been knowing where he was going for a while now. As a matter of fact, whenever Dakorian Moore committed he had just gotten back from a visit at LSU with Underwood and he probably saw the writing on the wall and wanted to be a part of it. Berry was there as well at the same time. The truth is that a lot of the recruits know where certain other recruits are going before they commit. Underwood could have milked it until next year but he decided to shut it down over a year early. Barring some catastrophic event I see this committ and every other commit sticking.

Not saying no one cared. Just saying the services aren’t going to put much time into 25 yet. They don’t have unlimited resources.

Well that’s not true

no offense. But you do not get recruiting

Because he wasn’t going to Bama or Michigan

Your expectations are too high.

I'm assuming the local guys must have known he wasn't going to Michigan.. and no one from here was traveling up there.. Not sure why the kid didnt mention he was going to be announcing on IG live though...

I hope you’re right, but de-commitment seems fairly common. That’s all.
