Yea I don’t understand this WR being thin theory the board is running with. We will have 12 on scholorship next year. If the 2 true freshman end up starting then about 8 of those guys dont belong here.

I think Jenkins can come in and contribute immediately on special teams. PR/KR

Part of the confusion comes from early this season, when Jacoby moved from defense to WR because we were supposedly thin at receiver, and the comments from Canada about us not having enough receivers to play four at once... and now two very good WR starters leaving as Seniors (Chark and Gage).

It also the fact I think Marshall the first receiver we’ve gotten in the last couple of classes that’s come in as a ready made receiver

Didn't even name the #1 wr on the team, Giles.

So freshmen can't contribute because all these guys got playing time? Dillon had 14 catches for 8 yards per and the rest of your list had a combined 13 catches.

Don't forget Traore and Moore

I know I'll get roasted for saying it on this board, but here it goes. I don't believe Drake Davis will ever amount to much at LSU. His athleticism is off the chart, but he isn't a natural receiver, he plays soft, and he doesn't seem to have the drive to learn the finer points of the game. I think he gets passed up. Dee Anderson seems to be a pretty complete receiver but a pretty unreliable person off the field. Not sure if that will catch up with him and derail his career or not.
Sullivan and Dillon are good but I think they are rotational players and not true starters. Haven't seen enough of Jefferson to know if he is legit or not.
Giles will be on the field a lot next year. But Marshall and potentially Chase have a good opportunity to work their way into the top 4 receivers by next fall.

You seem to forget that Sullivan, Anderson, Davis, and Dillon are all sophomores this year, redshirted or not. Even though that does not excuse them from not being as productive as their potential shows, they still have some time to mature. Not too much time, but a lot can happen in 2 years.

Oh they will definitely get better and be contributors. I think Anderson is a starter if the coaches feel they can rely on him. Dillon and Sullivan showed enough this year that they will get on the field.
The narrative here is just that Drake Davis is a Julio Jones type waiting to breakout and I just don't think it ever happens. He's a large body that runs and jumps well but he just hasn't shown, at any point in his playing career, that he's a true number 1 type receiver. I don't think the light will just suddenly come on for him.
My point though is there is room for talented receiver recruits to become contributors immediately.

That is true. Potential doesn't always equate production

LSU has some really good safeties
But Kelvin Joseph probably the most talented the day he steps on campus

My official prediction: Traore ends up starting at one of the tackle spots. D. Lewis is gets a few starts at guard and plays in every game. Surtain ends up a starter by the end of the year at the other CB position. Cotton, Moore, and Cherry all log decent minutes in the Dline Rotation. Joiner and Curry play a good bit in the RB rotation. That's it.
How about my boy from Parkway?
I see our JUCO boys making a immediate impact

Maybe if LSU got a good or great WR's coach-player development would be better.

Drake Davis has all the talent in the world.

Sullivan was actually the second starting WR after Chark. Coaches must have seen something in him.
