I'm just curious, with the consistent success we've had in recruiting, is the pitch simply to "restore LSU basketball to its glory days," or is it something more? I would think "playing time" is a part of it, but with the depth on the roster, I'm not sure.

Must be one hell of a pitch.

Keeping Wade MUST be our top priority if he keeps it up... no reason why we shouldnt be able to give him resources he needs to succeed here.

Consistent success? Two years and one top 15 class. He's doing an amazing job, there's no need to embellish.

He definitely has had "consistent success" flipping JJ's roster since he has been here. Basketball recruiting news has been damn good since he was hired.

C'mon man, JJ did the very same thing in his first two years. He's better than JJ in every aspect of coaching, there's no need to embellish.

Yea, hyperbole is silly, I agree. However...basketball recruiting has taken a step up. Bag man, poon tang, Will Wade has charm...whatever it is, it's working.

The main thing I take away is that big time recruits WANT to play for him. JJ had a few jewels, but without his uncle on staff, Simmons wouldn't be able to tell you which state Baton Rouge is in. Blakeney doesn't hitch his cart to Simmons, etc. The players seem convinced of the coach now.

At the rate he’s going, he will be on to a big time program within 3-4 yrs. the idea that someone as good as Wade will hang around LSU very long is comical.

If LSU gives the man whatever he needs to build a monster I can see him staying. Several programs have pulled off keeping a big name coach for a lot of years with less basketball history than LSU. We just cant drop the ball

I think it's hard work, knowledge, experience, dedication, and charm.

Read his bio and you'll quickly glean his seriousness.

If it were something less reputable than that, where has it been all these years?

Just going off everything I've read or heard in interviews with Wade, two things stand out that might answer this question in part:

One, he really emphasizes individual skills development with recruits and connects it to getting to the NBA. The way he presents it seems to resonate with kids.

Two, he said in an article a few months ago that he tells elite recruits that programs don't make the player, players make the program.
