Yes and yes. And he gets a boost from being in the top 100, specifically positions 11-20.

No, not really.

You gotta come up with a formula somehow and there are many good elements involved.

What kind of sucks is how Bama usually seems to have a player just on that cusp of a top 5 at their respective position, getting more points than being outside the top 5. So given similar 4 and 5 star recruits, Bama tends to "top out" on their recruits, getting maximum value.
