Based on his upvotes and your downvotes.... I would say the board disagrees with your assessment.
To be fair, nothing he posted was very definitive or anything you couldn't draw your own conclusions on. Threads like this were not productive in January, and they aren't productive now.
Having said that, I have no problem with what was posted. Its not like some random from the rant coming in here asking who we are recruiting at qb and leaving the thread.

To be fair, this thread has gone 7 pages...more than any other thread from the past week. While your opinion is that threads like this aren't productive...they are certainly popular.

The Tony Brown story with Saban skyping his dad coincides with what I heard from a Bama guy who's in the know. Pretty slick stuff by Saban. Sucks Brown felt the need to lie to our staff, though.

If I started this thread with nothing but my opinions of what happened, it would have gone 7 pages. There have been 100+ pages on this topic, and nothing in this one is groundbreaking, which I believe is what geauxaggie was trying to point out.
This isn't a discussion, its just rehashing something that has already happened and been discussed.

No it wouldn't. Seriously, leave the thread if it offends your sensibilities. It's very easy not to click into a thread.

I bet the Gumps are having a field day with this one.
They spend more time on this board than their own.

I'm just an observer who read this thread because I thought Jimmy might post something interesting. But after reading it, I'm not really sure what the point of this was other than to rehabilitate his rep

it's all stuff most of us already knew or were able to draw a conclusion on....i don't buy all of the funny business people are claiming. we just didn't get them.

Redfield, speaking of funny business
There also has been some smoke with Willis's mother getting a job with UF.
Know of anymore info and what position she is working?

Dude, read. I'm not offended in the least, I said I have no problem with him starting the thread. And yes, if anyone else started this thread they would either get flamed or it would turn into another "tony brown lied...rabblerabble" piece of garbage and last 10 pages.
I think everyone clicked on the thread hoping for new info, but none was given. Again, I don't care either way, I'm just pointing it out.

I was asked a few questions in another thread regarding that day so I thought I would share what happened with everyone. Some already knew the details, but it was obvious that others wanted to hear it again so I obliged. A lot of fans don't want to rehash the whole thing and I completely understand.
As far as rehabbing my rep...that will never happen. There will always be skeptics, doubters and people that just flat out don't like you. It used to bother me, but now I get it. I tried to carefully word it so it didn't seem that way, but evidently I didn't do a good enough job.
On another note...I think LSU walked away from that day in a good spot. The free scholarship(s) led to Trey L and before his injury he worked his way into the two-deep after astonishing everyone as to how physical he actually was. Russel Gage has proven to be everything Corey Raymond, F Wilson and everyone else hoped he'd be...a baller. In the end, they could be the victors after all.

Saban is a slimy shitbag. This is his MO now.
Sounds like a great recruiter to me that completely outworked LSU on recruiting Brown.

It does sound like we got a bit complacent.

Recruiting is just a dirty business OP; unfortunately it is a necessary evil. LSU has rolled around in the dirt more than some and less than some(a LOT less than some). It's just dirty and I - a lot of us - always feel like we need to take a shower after reading some of things some fans say about recruits. You have a job to do and all you can do is try your best to get it right.
Our class last year is very likely the best ever under Miles. Thanks so much Coach Wilson and Coach Cam!!

Exactly. LSU has done this many times in the past and they usually do it on recruits they feel are in the bag. I've seen some recruits mention their complacent nature. It's lazy. LSU needs to increase their recruiting budget because a lot of outside schools are starting to come in and make a presence in the state. Hell, even UCLA seems to be coming in here and trying to make bridges. TAMU seems to be all over our recruits and Saban has always done it since he was at Bama. It was only recently did he start getting elite prospects stolen from LSU and it's no doubt a big ploy to weaken his biggest rival in the West as is strengthen Bama. It doesn't matter to him if they sit on the bench. It's depth they have and if they don't work out well process them weakening a rival.
LSU needs to stop being so complacent and realize the dangers of doing so when a lot of schools are building bridges now in Louisiana. It might not see major impact this year or next, but it can eventually. We don't want to end up like Georgia.
LSU has great recruiting but they can do more. Think outside the box and innovate how they recruit. We're not on par with Bama. I don't care what anyone says. If you think we're on their level of recruiting then you need to take the blinders off. Last year when we played Bama they really pulled away from us in the second half. Is that a sign the recruiting disparity is happening more now? We shall see. It's not really a coincidence that both Bama/TAMU are tearing it up in recruiting lately. I don't see how anyone can ignore TAMU being a powerhouse with the way they've recruited. It's going to translate to the field eventually. LSU could see itself slipping to third. Both those schools are the richest in the SEC but LSU is in the top 5 most profitable programs in the country...we can compete with budgets.

Right, when it comes down to it, we had an amazing class, and IMO will be a turning point for the program. I would take ours over bamas any day, and I think objectively, a lot of their fans would too. Of course you would rather the kids that pick you, but there are some absolute studs in this class that any team in the country wish they could have gotten.

I keep reading the phrase "draw a conclusion."
Sure, everyone knew the general story for each recruit because we knew the way each recruit's story ended on that fateful day. Most of us heard some rumors and innuendo and could “draw a conclusion.”
But there's a lot of detail in the OP.
1. I didn't know anything about Tony and Saban skyping with Tony's dad.
2. I didn't know the Fournette's weren't happy with the Browns.
3. I didn't "know" how much LSU knew about some of the recruit's defections. I heard rumors about straight-up lies, but I still had to "draw a conclusion." It's nice to have confirmation.
4. I didn't "know" all of the backstory about what happened on that day. Again, I heard rumors, but I still had to "draw a conclusion."

You're doing fine, in my book. Grown men who are hanging on every thought of a 17-18 year old and who are getting mad because they lied are the problem. You do your research and report what you hear. I don't have a problem with any of that. Keep working hard and you'll get your share of scoops to report and we'll all read it because we love LSU and know that you are busting your tail to provide us the information that we can't get on our own.
ALL of the insiders were wrong and have been for about 3 years now. These guys are playing all of us and they love it. A lot of the recruiting talk should probably just die anyway. For the big recruits, so much of it is inaccurate by design.
