Maybe Mulkey's recruiting class can play for both teams

I would point out that the Top 20 class you speak of was on display last night. The proof is in the playing.

It's been very disappointing to see just how little the highly rated (two top 70 players) are contributing. Last night was Ward's first significant action all season and Reed looks like he is a combination of lost/would rather be somewhere else when he is on the court. He plays with no effort whatsoever. In this day and age freshman are expected to contribute. LSU is getting virtually nothing out of theirs.

There are no draft prospects on this team other than KJ (maybe as a second rounder). LSU has three seniors, Hill, KJ, Hannibal, but all three have eligibility remaining. There will almost assuredly be guys who transfer elsewhere after the season. So I expect LSU to be active in the portal (like every team). The good news, if there is any, is that McMahon was able to hit on transfers like Hayes and Fountain. Hopefully he can do so again while also developing whoever comes back.

Yeah, but you can't win with Hayes and Fountain. Those guys have to be complimentary players; they can't be your top-line guys.

Our top three scorers for next year's team, at least, are going to have to be portal transfers that McMahon finds in the spring. He literally doesn't have somebody on this team who's a plausible star player on next year's team. Previously you could have said that about Adam Miller, but game by game it's becoming obvious that's not true and it's also becoming obvious that he's on his way out of here.

So the amount of pressure to find superstar players in the portal is massive, and the task seems daunting.

And Jalen Reed is not likely to go from what he is right now to somebody who's going to give you, say, 12 and 7 to help replace Williams next year. Which is a real problem.

I'm not saying we're doomed. But we shouldn't kid ourselves. The rebuild hasn't even really started; we don't even have any building blocks in place that we can count on at the moment.

Are there any juco possibilities? I know you used to be able to pull 1or2 scorers out of those ranks in the past

Maybe if you’re 80 year old white dude or under 12. Many LSU fans enjoyed successful LSU teams.

Why does the 80 year old have to white you racist? Also what teams were more successful than Wade's? 2009? 2006? Every other team from 2010 to 2018 were not as good as any of Wade's teams were from 2019-2021.

And just like the previous poster said, most fans didn't give a shite about basketball prior to Wade. Hence why the student section was empty outside of a bunch of weirdos.

I think the way Wade cheated and the dark cloud that was constantly overhead of a very underachieving roster soured a lot of people’s true appreciation of the sport.

This is an actual 80 year old man take and most of our fans don't agree with you at all.
