Everyone seems to rag out our lack of DT's in this class, It seems to me that we arent getting it done, I have had a chance to watch this kid he has a verball to FSU, his name is Damien Jacobs, who is in my opinion the best DT in louisiana, from my hearing Jacobs and Trovon Reed are good friends and Reed would love Jacobs to join him, LSU has never offered

All will be great ones when its all said and done. I think we will miss woods next yr, even though he wasnt like a dorsey or lavalais.

Woods never lived up to the hype. This should be a lesson to the stargazers out there.

I just hate the fact of maybe Reed can make this kid an AU tiger, I hate AU. I'd rather him at LSU any day

sure he has. He has rushed upfield with no regard for containment whatsoever. He's good at that.

Because we only need 3 DTs, one of which who hasn't touched the field yet right?

I'd like to ask about what Chavis' philosophy is on dline again.

What does he like?

All tackles and DEs big?

Tackles big and DEs small and quick?

man, he had some monsters at UT. He loved letting the DTs plug up the middle and letting his fast LB's make plays.

Okay,
But what about the DE's?

Does he like a Tyson Jackson or a Kirston Pittman type?

Do the Big DT's clog the middle for the DE's Too?

I would think that if there are big dt's in the middle that you would have to have some hefty de's to in run situations or they can be whipped all game long by a running team with small lb's behind them.

From what I've heard, he treats defenses like a Roman army. The DL are like the infantry, Big strong guys that hold the line and he uses his LB's like cavalry, fast guys that can easily adjust to whatever the situation is.

As far as what type he likes, just look at his recruiting.

He likes Big DE's that can contain and medium sized DT's that can hold their position, but may bust through once in a while.

He used monster DT's at UT, but when you have guys like Haynesworth, you recruit and play them no matter what.

My info is all either observed or from UT fans. Look for Nevis and Downs to be major contributors and Davenport to be depth.

I watched Jacobs play against South Lafourche. Every time they ran right at him the SL OL drove him 10 yds down the field. He may contribute some at FSU but the fact that he is the top rated DL in the state proves that this is a down year in Louisiana.

woods had a lot of physical talent to be really good in a different system where he received coaching

3/4 years without being coached, in a system that doesn't fit him = bust

al woods would have been better off at a UT or UM

I was at the game also, you must understand that if any one is getting triple teamed the will be pushed back a bit, by the way he did have thirteen solos that game.

Woods was a big body space eatter. He did what he was supposed to do. BUT, you need that guy next to him who is the penetrating type DT. ex. Marlon Favorite and Glenn Dorsey, Norman Hand and LaRoi Glover, Woods and ??? (should have been RJF).

Should Woods have been a five star? Probably not, but should have been a four star for sure IMO.
