The school can release them but does not have to. If the school refuses, they have to either play there or transfer and sit a year.

If they early enrolled they can transfer in spring.
Most schools try not to hold kids hostage it's a bad look to keep someone that doesn't want to be with you.

How in the hell would we not be the primary contender for his services? He's got a tremendous relationship with our DL coach. He signed with Texas so he's not averse to moving far away.
