Was Coach more successful in recruiting than expected

H could have top 5 class every year if you want 20 receivers and 10 running backs. He recruited for need . Not sure why do not see that. Big uglies don't get you brownie points.

I think this class is better than the rankings indicate. It meets a lot of needs and it’s big on beef, which is never a bad policy for a football team. Even then, there’s a good number of 4 star recruits in this class. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

We all know how recruiting ratings work, so why are we surprised when a kid is underrated? Linemen carry little flash. Alabama offer? Extra star. Alabama commit? National exposure at your signing ceremony.

I just don’t get this statement. People act like 4 and 5 star linemen don’t exist, which is totally not true. Yes, there are more 4 and 5 star skill players, but let’s not pretend that those linemen aren’t out there as well. LSU has gotten their share of them in the past.

To me, it hasn't met expectations, partly on targets we chose, partly on it being a down year instate for the most part and partly because recruiting is what Ed is supposes to do best.

That doesn't mean I don't like the class overall. We have to finish strong, like we expect, for the end result to be less than a disappointment.

QB- the Rogers miss will tell the tale. If he flourishes we will talk about it for a few years. Still find it hard to fathom that we likely aren't gonna land one at all. With our job being wide open to the best man, its hard to believe we can't get one in this class.
RB- solid group that we will be fine with. Just not a good year for RBs this year but seeing UGA grab 2 studs and us scramble is not a good look.
WR-honestly, its about what was expected and land Chase or not I'm happy with it. Do think we ended ended up with the floor based on the available prospects for the bottom end. I like Jones and Jenkins but believe a couple of the kids we stopped pressing are a little better but it's basically a wash. Chase takes it from good to great. The transfer Giles helps as well.
TE-dont understand the need but I like the FL kid and add in Moss and it's good group.
OL-did what we needed. The C is gonna be important down the line while the jucos help now. Wire could swing the end grade down the line. If one of Hines and Rosenthal flip over it would improve the grade as both are better ol than DL IMO.
DT- could be some higher rated kids but I like the size and numbers we got. Really like Jenkins. Where Hines and Rosenthal end up could change things. Also likely one of Moore/Scott end up on the DL. Add in Feihoko and its a great group on paper.
LB-like the inside guys a lot. Outside depends on who ends up staying there. Love Scotts upside but he could grow into a DE.
CB-we have to close Surtain and add another, preferably Goodrich. I personally think Goodrich is less a lock than some have him seeming to be. Those Jan visits are gonna be to heavy hitters. Hope they have a plan for another.
S-have to close Joseph. He's a stud S.

Penrith, you have narrow minded standards and are a star gazer. You mention Texas and Georgia - the latter that hasn’t won a championship in 35 years, and Kirby’s first year a disaster. Texas has 7 Times the population of LA, and Georgia 3 Times the population with High school football on par with LA per capita. They should always be in the top 5. If you add the 2 Texas Tech transfer, the NC State TE, and Shlevin with our 2018 signees, I would put our talent pool up with anybody. We are loaded and O’s recruiting has been brilliant with the exception of Etiene last year, and possibly not getting a top flight QB this year.

So we trail Texas, would you swap classes?
