Why would it matter at this point? It obviously wasn't an "ace in the hole" and the guy is committed to a school not named LSU. The admins have no reason to boot you

The underlying tone of Sopsher's recruitment was that he was a Bama lock. Very few, if any, of the gurus ever wavered that he was Bama's to lose.
FWIW, I don't think he manipulated anyone. I think the staff always knew the odds but they had to put the full court press on.
Regardless, there must have been other DL targets that the staff could have made a priority to fill some needs.
O still landed a helluva class but I'm still waiting for a truly elite DL or left offensive tackle to sign with the Tigers.
The game is won in the trenches.

The way you know he doesn’t have real info is because he never mentioned Desmond Little.
The guy was a complete unknown on this board and it’s clear that LSU had him as a fallback plan if others didn’t sign.

Vol had the same info our coaches had. However Ish and his family lied right up until his announcement! I enjoy the recruiting board and the subjects posted by Sampson and Vol. I just don’t melt like most on this board when we lose a recruit! We’re talking about 17-18 yr old kids and some just want to play out of state. Guys this happens every year! But this is a solid class and we gonna be really good this fall. Geaux Tigers

Here’s the thing. Did he just make it up, or was the staff this optimistic only to be way off leading into today? We may never know, but that is the most interesting and key part of what he was telling us. He had enough info to look like he was getting it from inside. If the staff had that list yesterday, then that is a real problem. Or maybe he had no clue. Maybe a little of both.
