I have a feeling Dec 20-22 is going to be interesting.

yeah same....feels like some major shakeups are happening. a lot of decommitments in general by 3star and lower tiered 4star players going on around the country. Coaches just doing the shuffle I assume.

“Uncommitted 3 Star guys” for Williams is a weird description . He’s a future starter .

Definitely a lot of shuffling though, especially with all the coaching changes.

M. Williams is a player. 6-1 260 and can run. I hope he ends up in the class.

Beal too.

Stop worrying about Stars.

Its an accurate description. 3 star, #974 Nationally according to 247 composite. Maybe he will end up as a top ten draft pick in 3 years - maybe he can't see the field. I'm just going by the source I trust the most.

No one on this board seems to be able to muster objectivity when it comes to Louisiana (and especially local to BR) recruits.

Lol. Yeah only you .

Or maybe we just disagree on these two players . Both guys are definitely takes . We have been talking about Mike Williams here for years . Watch his tape - watch him play - talk to area coaches- look at his offer list - Ask yourself why Nick visited Dunham and offered. Kids a great LB/DE prospect, a high character kid , and tough as nails.

That's a name I haven't heard in a long time... Are we still looking good for him or is Bama going to get him?

Bama, Auburn and LSU are all pushing .
I think Auburn is probably the leader.

Williams isn't rated higher because he's playing out of position.

Coaches have seen enough at camps to know what kind of player he projects to be defensively.

I trust Aranda over some 247 analyst.

You guys need to stop watching stars. Stars mean shite! Only reason Williams isnt thought of in a higher regard is because he also plays on offensive side of ball. All defense in college.

We need to see how many sign in the early period to know how many schollies we have to offer.

If any of the present verbals do not sign early....do we offer the schollie to someone else ? That might open the available schollies from 5 to 7 or even 8.

Star-Spangled Bama says hello.
It’s not the end-all be-all, but don’t be ridiculous and say it doesn’t mean anything…

Great MLB prospect. Looks a lot like Beckwith. Big, tough, and can play football. This is what I love about LA and MS recruits, they are so dang underrated, mostly bc of coaching, style of play, and having to play the best player at QB. This guy is an athlete who is 6'2 260 lbs and runs a 4.7 or 4.6. That's insane! He could play TE, MLB, or FB. Athlete!!

Tell that to fl. That was the horse's mindset too... Tell that to the teams that are consistantly vying for a national championship. I bet they would have to disagree with you. Yes there are more 3 stars in the nfl than 4 and 5 stars but that is simply because there are more 2 and 3 stars coming out of highschool. Im sure you can name a bunch of 3 stars who ended up being superstars, and I can name a bunch of 4 and 5 stars. I doubt this kid is going to be the next tyrann mathieu.

People want to fellate Dave Aranda and act like he is the greatest coach to ever walk the earth, and now when he has hand-picked this guy for his defense and personally made the decision to offer, its "why are we offering this 3-star"

I 100-percent agree that stars matter -- in the aggregate. But they don't matter when you are looking to evaluate an individual player.

At what point does a player become a 3-star, 4-star, or 5-star?

Where do you draw the line?

If LSU (or anyone) evaluates, offers and takes a commitment from a 2 or 3 star, and then later during his senior year they player is elevated to a 4-star, then did LSU offer a 2 star or a 4 star?

My main issue with stars is that, with offer lists being a factor, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Sure, Alabama gets mostly 4 and 5 stars. But if those players commit somewhere else, what are their rankings?

It's kind of a rigged system.

I get the thinking but many kids play positions in hs they aren't projected to in college and are 4*. Beckwith is a prime example. Probably more to do with the fact that Williams didn't really play the camp circuit which, like it or not, is where most evaluations for rankings are decided these days.
I think he's a DE all the way.
