I agree Sumlin's coaching history shouldn't deserve more than Les. But on the open market it did. NFL and top college jobs were willing to pay him big so we had to lock him down to protect all our investments in the football program. We were not negotiating at a position of strength. If he fails it's just some rich guys money bailing us out. Not mine so I don't care.
But to your point, you think A&M players are getting a bump because it's good for business or because Sumlin is cool? That's hardly the case. Nick Harvey plummeted in the rankings. Noil, Garrett, and Allen all had great games on the national stage against elite players. It's not hard to see why they received a bump.
And keep laughing at our defense. It was horrible this year but look at our defensive recruits the last two years. We are stocking the talent to compete. Myles Garrett is a day one starter.

Dude..........the talent you brought in this year on defense was shitastic........NO ONE but maybe Claiborne is even worthy of being mentioned as an All SEC player........
Do I think you have gotten good players this year on D? Yes Myles is a G, but one player doesn't make a defense, 18 players make a defense(11 to start, 7 to rotate).
So by my Math instead of having 15 WRs, Sumlin better start addressing 15 rosters spots for defensive talent.
I bet you wish Dylan Mack was a 2014 player right about now.

I just don't get Aggies freaking bragging about stockpiling talent on D..........they had one of the worst defenses in the country playing as many freshman as LSU's young D who consequently ranked in the top half.........
So either their talent isn't that great or their coaching is supper shitty; or both.........I think it is somewhere in between.
But deep down most Aggies I work with in Medicine know that next year's D isn't going to be much better.
They can't sit here and paint us a picture like the outlook is bright when Sumlin's Defense has regressed even with recruiting beefing up.

the ratings are subjective and a marketing tool. don't nitpick. my biggest point of disagreement is brown is #16 and adams is #91. that is way, way too big of a difference.
i would be interested in what the aTm people think about this since they know the state of texas and SHOULD be objective.
