new coach at ulm who has brought in some great asst. coachs including leon lett with pro experience and who can teach technique. ulm is recruiting some very good talent this year even if a commit now is about as firm now as a vat of jello

Saban said Johnson would get an offer this summer at camp...He said that when Bo Barton took Johnson and Griffin to Tuscaloosa in February. I'm not sure if Johnson ended up going back. From everything I've read from sites and heard from sources, Saban was really high on this guy, as was Pelini.

It very well could be that he did not want to venture from home...some kids are that way. However, the following little comment may hold the answer:

quote:

“Mother knows best,” Johnson said. “If she gets a bad feeling, I’m not going against her. If she doesn’t think it’s the right place I’m going to listen to her.”

he has offers from Ole Miss, State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska but he chose UL-Monroe. No offense Warhawks, but something is up

LEON LETT Hoping Paul Turner decides to help build a program in Louisiana rather than TCU or elsewhere.

This is what Gerrand had to say in a recent article

quote:

"There is no doubt about it. I will be back to ULM to take an official visit. I'm telling you I have been to visit some

I guess in today's recruiting world this is a fair assessment but I'm surprised more kids don't stay closer to home to play ball. Monroe isn't exactly next door to a power school. I remember in high school (some 19 yrs ago) that from Minden to Baton Rouge seemed much further away than it was. Take that with playing very early, being close to home, and the fact the scouts will find you regardless of where you go to school, and I would think you'd have a few more kids stay at the smaller schools.

Last year before the season started Don Shows of West Monroe made the statement that his offensive line could be one of the best ever at West Monroe.

I specifically watched Johnson at the Bayou Bash against Shows' offensive line. There was no one, and I mean no one, that could block him.

He is a special player. If he can get around some good coaching at ULM he will have a chance to play on sundays.

Again, I've seen him in person several times and each time walk away a little more impressed than the last.

He could be the best Dlineman at ULM/NLU since Shawn King(2nd round pick in 1995). BTW, the only way La Tech can get a player like this is to get them in a transfer...see Molton and the 2 players from Tennessee.

Tech has conference realignment problems and coaching problems. Doubt they recruit as well this year compared to ulm. Recruiting at those two schools goes in cycles. Been a while since ULM was up but new coachs with great experience.

Maybe he just likes ULM...calm down...it's not your decision, it's his.

Unless the kid plans on staying in Rayville for the rest of his life (and he might), there is no fathomable rational for choosing a ULM education over an Alabama or Nebraska education. None whatsoever.

Can't fault the guy for going where he's most comfortable.

I'm not a Warhawk booster, but this statement is bull. If he likes the staff, is comfortable and wants to be close to home, ULM is a great spot for him.To Hell with Nebraska and bamma.
