Yea in depth skill etc. And solid coaching. Sheeed! Uhigh doesn't have the athletes to stop what's coming from Aug this year. Big time D and O if the Qb gets going n it's a wrap.

stopping curtis in 7 on 7 is probably fairly easy..

stopping their veer with 11 on 11 all game long is quite another matter.....

I have worked over 25 curtis games and many times the other teams had superior talent... and got beat by 28 points..

one robins egg doesn't make it spring time.... perfect storm.. for that matchup...

curtis, eca and pbs, wm have been in the title hunt many times over a long stretch... and won titles... plural.. big difference.

Totally agree

Don't agree. With their redshirting program, maturity usually trumps the other team's occasional athletes that might individually be better than Curtis. And dressing out >100 kids and playing 2A schools that usually have <50 doesn't hurt. That said, they are more a system school, as others noted, that is one reason their kids don't generally make a mark at the next level.

they were in 4A... and I worked many of their catholic league matchups....

agree on hold backs.. the clock should start ticking in your legal age for K.. and just roll from there...

I agree too! I've been arguing this point for a few years now. Every since my son was in 7th grade and I started taking him to camps. In my opinion everything should be based on the kids birth date! Not his classification. Saying he's a freshman, soph, jr, doesn't say how old he is! Basically in high school most kids start the 9th grade at 14yrs old and finish the 12th grade at 18 yrs old. If their age is used it will expose some these coaches and parents that are holding these kids back for athletics! Then we will see that instead of being this phenom that he appears to be at 15 in the 10th grade, he's actually 17 in the 10th grade! Anyone that argues that 2 years doesn't make a big difference in the maturity of an athlete is sadly mistaken!

unfortunately the majority don't realize what is happening...... heck.. that good soph lineman ya'll have is young enough to be an 8th grader at some schools...

My son has always been one of the youngest (if not THE youngest) on the field at his classification. Even when he played youth football, he was one of the biggest but still one of the youngest. And I MADE him play up with the 9 and 10 yr olds when he had just turned 8 because of his size! He will be a senior this year, but he will just turn 17 next week! He will still be 17 when he graduates and reports to college! I know a bunch of kids at various schools who are a year older than him and a grade less than him! But everyone talks about how great they are! Sorry, I know I'm in the minority on this, but I say publicize their age along with their classification so we get the true picture of their feats!

wildman, we have to be a little careful-they might want this to be our starting QB's last year.

It was interesting when my oldest started against Curtis in the playoffs his Junior year. He was 6 months away from reaching 17, and playing against kids MUCH older than he was. And at that age, maturity means so much. Not just having had the extra time working out and adding weight, but in mental toughness too.

Wildman, you do know that Uhigh played Curtis in the playoffs about 2 seasons ago. I don't remember the score (like 62-7) but I remember Curtis kicking field goals on 2nd and 3rd down, trying not to run up the score.

Actually its was 3 years ago. Today U-High has more talented players, different coaching staff, and I believe more of a commitment to winning! And the biggest difference between then and now is back then the kids on that team expected to lose to Curtis. The kids on THIS team expect to win against Curtis! Believe me, I've talk to a few of them and they WANT a piece of Curtis' arse! Evangel got lucky last year! They know they got an arse whoop'n coming too!

Names? I doubt he remembers. Curtis doesn't usually have a lot of D1 prospects that one would remember names, just wave after wave of kids he described as having full beards and looking like his current classmates at LSU (where is is entering his sophomore year). While my knowledge of their redshirting program is second hand, it's a really connected second hand.

Another story where you live through your son? You realize NO ONE at Curtis has a beard? What team did your son play for?
