Might have to do with the inability across the board to handle Conference USA defenses

Maybe putting them in the rack and actually using sleds during training and practice for the o line could help. Apparently we never tried that all of last year.

It’s starting to feel like LSU overpaid their OL and they aren’t happy with the market reset they are getting with the new coaching staff. The unfortunate part of the coaching turnover is that LSU will be less likely to get a “hometown” discount from the returning players. It’s going to be a daunting task to rebuild the entire OL roster. Hopefully the right players are available.

Going into the portal is like testing free agency. See what you are worth. Some of these guys may be back. They aren’t required to leave.

All of them besides Moore graded out absolutely terribly this season. The other 4 starters drug LSU down in the 100’s for overall OL grade in FBS.

New coach. New negotiations. Unfettered agents. Expect more business decisions.

Aren't you the guy on here sitting in multiple sigs about quotes of stupidity you made on here about player evaluations? Pretty sure I saw someone on here with a quote you made about Beckham that makes the average ranter seem like he has a high IQ.

My thoughts on the portal in general and especially these O linemen: if they want any of these guys to stay badly enough, they can make it happen. If they decide any of these guys are worth it, they can offer them what it takes to stay. Even Curne who will have suitors, there’s a price that he comes back for. LSU still has leverage.

I’d rather double Curne’s pay than try and beg Adams back

Not dumb enough to be on this board's sigs like you yet!

especially with quotes like these. no wonder you seem to be loved with other users on here with their sigs and you're calling someone else dumb with every post they make?

Based on the sigs in here you seem to have a great track record of evaluating talent. Maybe you should hit Lane up and ask him if he'll hire you on staff to scout.

this is the only one that kinda sucks, but even then, the OL was just bad so i get just starting over as well

This one definitely sucks. He is an ideal starting RT in the SEC.

What the rabble here still doesn’t seem to understand is that it’s typically less expensive to pay to retain guys you want as opposed to shopping in the limited market of the portal. And the most limited areas of the portal in terms of quality?- that would be both lines.

It’s simple economics. Because it’s a limited market, at least in terms of quality numbers, you don’t get near the value per dollar spent making wholesale changes in the portal as opposed to recruiting and retention.

I may trust Kiffin and his staff’s evaluations in the long term, but I don’t trust how they are approaching the OL for next year unless we see at least one or two of Adams, Echols and Curne paid to return.

Curne mentioned he's testing the market and that he might return. That might be what's it at play here with Adams as well. Especially as you hit on it the market is limited here. That's why LSU paid to keep their DL on the other side of the ball. I'd have to think Lane has a plan here though. Maybe he just doesn't like the guys we have and is already back channeling some guys he expects. We'll have to wait to see.

I don't think you can successfully replace the entire OL.

The last team that tried to the degree we are currently looking at was Colorado. We saw how that worked out for them in year one. I’m sure we would do better than that, but pulling off bring in an entire starting OL that is an upgrade would be very expensive and will take funds away from other positions of need.

Wrong, casual. Adams had one poor game. He graded out 1 or 2 (Moore had 1 or 2 off games after his injury and missed at least 1 game) on the OL in every other game one played in before injury. Our worst OL struggles came after he went down and we started the revolving door at both Tackle spots. The only other Tackle who was even serviceable was Ory Williams.

No, you’re mad that I have contended some of your posts with irrefutable, objective facts and now here you are trying to pretend I sit here and just call you dumb. My posts are easy to find, feel free to respond to any of them in the same manner.

They should both be retained, but it wouldn’t be you without a stupid take not based in reality. I really like Curne’s upside as a Guard and want him to be retained, but let’s not pretend he was as good as Adams at any point this season trying to play Tackle. Not even when accounting for his lack of experience as a true freshman, or that Guard is not as important or highly paid of a position as Tackle.

If Adams’ price is reasonable; you pay him so you can afford to pay a premium for the top spot on the OL- starting LT. He’s also a guy you know can slide over to LT and hold up if there’s an injury.
