He plays a lot bigger than 5'8 though, I didn't even notice he was that short until you mentioned it now.

And he was NOT highly rated.

Miles does a great job of noticing who has 'it' in camp.

Notice also soph Josh Williford is now part of the O-line.
As a freshman, he was not in shape well enough to practice with the team at first.

I would hope so. I mean, he's already playing corner, if he weren't doing better at corner than Corey Webster did his freshman year, we'd be in real trouble.

Yeah, that's why I'm glad TM is doing better as a corner than a guy who wasn't even playing the position.

Me too. If TM can add 5-10lbs to his frame we are looking at another stud. He will be our next punt returner, book it.

Whats so crazy is that he is listed as a 4.62(40) guy. That being said, his game speed is significant.

The kid can absolutely fly to the ball, and is definitely not afraid to make contact.

I feel that the combo of a great WR and a great QB may expose a little trouble with his height, but that combo does not come along too often in the college ranks. Of course, he has a good vertical so maybe he can over come that too.

Either way, I watching the guy play

He blew up at the UT camp, and was the only CB to stay with Jarvis Landry. That camp was his coming out party.

Hell his first two games are a hell of a lot better than PP's first two games were. Not saying he is as good as PP, just that his first two games surpassed PP's first two games.

From what I remember... he wasn't on our radar at all. (By Our, I mean recruiting board) Then he gets an offer and commits. Rantards lose their shite! People said they heard he had an awesome camp and that's why Miles offered him. Rantards continue losing their shite saying we shouldn't offer every D. Blackmon who has a good camp. Then we found out he had an offer from Tenn because he had a good camp their too. Rantards lose shite to a lesser degree. Then he gets re-evaluated by rivals, ends up in the Rivals250 and Rantards can't wait to praise him and say how his talent will be lost because Miles can't coach him up.

There's a lot of "the fans were stupid posts" on here about TM.

I think people have a right to complain when LSU offers an UNKNOWN out of New Orleans after a camp in Tennessee.

The staff, particularly Frank Wilson deserves credit for pulling the trigger on him when they saw him.

But the fact that he went under the radar (in New Orleans) is partly because this staff has been fairly unorganized when it comes to evaluations.

Although LSU has consistently ranked highly in recruiting, there are some major holes -- there are like 12 decent kickers on scholarship and no QBs.

That being said, MIles has made some nice finds over the years -- like TM, PR and KS neither of whom were recruited by Georgia -- good God just think if you're a Georgia fan and you have to listen to all of the announcers praise Sheppard all the time -- and maybe Williford will be added to that list soon.

BUt there have also been enough head scratchers that Miles shouldn't be immune to criticism, even on the recruiting front

Unknown to those people you mean...not the coaching staff. How can you complain about something you know NOTHING about? Thats simply ignorant. But that darned 1st ammendment lets idiots like you complain about shite they dont know anything about.

I believe Frank Wilson was still at UT?

How do you know he was under their radar? How do you know they werent just waiting to see how he fared against some stud WRs at some camps? ..especially at his size. And i guess almost every other big time university's staffs were also fairly unorganized?

They offered him after he came to a camp at LSU. The rantards were soothed by the fact that he also had a good camp at Tenn.

Wilson was still coaching at Tenn when Mathieu commited to LSU. Give Miles and staff some credit, if you can.

They invited him to camp and offered him and he's here. It's not like he's Tracy Porter right across the river and went to Indiana or something. Damn! Give them credit for being organized enough to find unknown talent.

WTF does this have to do with Tyrann Mathieu?
