i'd LOVE to be able to get excited over verbal commits and watch the rankings, etc... but nowadays, it's nothing... nothing means anything, nothing makes sense, and commitments mean nothing...

That is 100% incorrect. The portal is where you fill holes, not build your foundation. You just have to play the game and pay up, which we have been doing over the last year.

You mean the version that's existed for years but is not above the table and not under it so more schools now (with more financial means) are able to benefit more than they have in past years because of it. It's always happened at some compacity. It's just that some schools would've had the NCAA at their doorstep like the FBI if they'd done it like the bluebloods have. That's why some coaches were against it to begin with. They no longer had the upper hand to collect players on their bench. Now they do need to reel it in a bit with the rules because it has become a bit excessive, but don't act like it hasn't been going on.
