re: Transfer Portal Board Discussions (Dec - Jan Window)

LSU can afford to be picky. Think about this before posting random players, especially backups. This should be LSU’s policy:
Take transfers running TO a program, not AWAY from a program.
Take starters looking for a better program, different scheme and/or more visibility.
Don’t take backups (except potentially QBs) and don’t take any discipline problems.
If they can’t excel where they are, they likely won’t excel at LSU.
Whether you're serious about projecting a kid coming to LSU or just having fun with some pure speculation, you really gotta consider these 4 points as guidelines.

However you want to see the thread, the idea is to have some fun with it. If you think a guy could fit, I say "Make your Case!"
Hell, the Coaches are experts and even they don't really know who will/won't become contributors once guys are exposed to Alignment and good Coaching.

Personally I don't think we should even look at WRs since we will likely have 4-5 coming in from high school along with the 6 we will have returning, but if we unexpectedly lose an experienced one, we will definitely need one in the portal.
Apparently Bama had quite few enter the portal today. Not exactly sure who

The tigers will almost assuredly have guys leave via the portal.
Either for more playing time, to be closer to home, etc. just the nature of the beast.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you are going to see some big names at big programs enter their names in the portal. Not so much because they are looking to leave their current schools. But because they are looking to "test the free agent market" and gain leverage on their current school. I guarantee you star players at many schools have had discussions with coaches within the last few weeks about negotiating new, bigger, NIL deals.
On the flip side, I think the schools have been trying to get ahead of the portal window by "locking up" their current players with new NIL deals before the window opens. For LSU, I don't think it is a coincidence Gordon McKernan has had a significant NIL presence and has been all over the media throughout the last few weeks. LSU was working to "re-sign" their players to new deals.

Justin Wright - LB from Tulsa entered the portal. Pretty good player for them. 3 year starter and 2 time all conference. Might be worth a look

Is he the one that's like 5'10? Dude was a terror the one game I saw a little of Tulsa.
ETA: Whoops, that guy was from Kansas, I think.
Eta: That's a big ole boy. 6'2 244. Timed 4.8 so maybe a run stopper in short yardage package?
Anybody know what Penn runs?

Tigers will be big game hunting and not all of the hunted will really be in play.
Curious to see if any of our guys try this and who it might be.

Eta: That kinda thing doesn't seem to fit with Alignment.
Only ones good enough to do it would be HP40, Nabers, Campbell, JD and Jones if you ask me.

Noiiice possible.
Jake Renfro Cincinnati 6'3" 308
IOLignment Denbrock was his OC.
He was a first-team All-AAC selection in 2021 as the team's starting Center.
Renfro was named to the 2022 Outland Trophy watch list.
Missed 22' with knee injury. I'm sure he got a Medical RS so would be coming as a Jr.

If I'm a major program like LSU, regardless of player or need, I do not play this game.
This is a recipe for disaster. Treat them right, get into a bidding war if necessary on the front end, but don't get used for leverage. Make that clear on the front end.
If they are disrespectful enough to come back to the trough, cut them loose. Unless they are a Joe Burrow type player, it's not worth it. And if they are a Joe Burrow type player, they aren't worried about NIL money.

Al Blades Jr. Miami CB / 6-1 / 170
will be a 6th yr red shirt Sr
Moved to Safety this season.
Experience and maturity like Converse and Foucha.
Possible maybe.

Decoldest has entered the portal. Don’t know how much he played this year.
Posted on 12/1/22 at 4:38 pm to Damathe
Looks like a state bred into the portal.
Decoldest Crawford
WR / 6-0 / 178 Nebraska WR (I thought he was bigger than that)
DNP in 22'. Will be a RS Fr due to knee injury.
Was signed w/Tigers at one point. We might have processed him then he went with Mickey. Might have just followed CMJ - damned if I remember.
I do remember camp footage that showed really strong hands.
