Virginia football appears poised to lose a promising young player as freshman linebacker West Weeks entered the NCAA transfer portal Monday, a source told Jacquie Franciulli of Wahoos247. Weeks came to UVA as a 3-star prospect in the 2021 class and made significant contributions as a true freshman this past fall, playing in 11 games and contributing 31 tackles with one sack and five pass break-ups. The Watkinsville (Ga.) Oconee County held 13 offers from Power Five programs coming out of high school. Weeks suffered a broken leg during the Cavaliers' regular-season finale against Virginia Tech on Nov. 27, so his status for spring practice at whichever program he ends up at likely remains uncertain.

Great write-up: this kid could flourish with LSU coaches

SI All American ... 6' 3" 215 lbs - who plays all over the field

Athleticism: Smooth and fluid. Quick feet, with flexible hips and ankles. Above-average speed in open field. Impressive burst. Functional play strength; shows plus power when necessary. Natural hand-eye coordination.

Instincts: High-level football IQ. Plays fast, decisive, and aggressive against both run and pass. Sheds would-be blockers with ease when flowing to ball; active arms, hands while engaged. Extremely comfortable dropping into coverage. Anticipatory ball skills as wide receiver translate to defensive backfield.

Definitely has a high motor. High iq coach on the field type kid. Really good pedigree.

Sounds like a good pickup, hope he heals in time for spring ball. Doesn't he have a brother that's a strong player too?

Don't know who the racists are referring to, but as a brother, I am happy to f'n have him.

Good for you man, need more fans like you and less of the fans who play stereotypes. He can run, his brother is the #40 rated player for GA next year, and GA has guys at the HS level that can ball. 247 currently has 59 players in GA with 3 *** rating or higher, the #58 player at 6-2 215 lb is already committed to Arkansas and Coach Pittman.

His younger brother Whit is 6-2-190 has a ranking of 0.867. Here is what I found interesting, he ran a 12.21 100 Meters. I am not a tack expert but I follow it on the perimeter but a HS track guy that runs 10.5-11.0 100M is a serious track athlete that is a D1 potential sprinter. Your 11-11.5 guys are D2, D3 and NAIA track Scholarship athletes. He High jumped 5-6 consistently as a Sophomore in HS. D1 is > 6.4.

So that tells me his Brother has some twitch and explosion, etc.

Very good pickup. If he is 100% by the time summer practice starts he will be a starter for sure.
