One of the top uncommitted defensive linemen in the 2026 class out of Louisiana is ready to come off the board and lock in his college commitment ahead of his senior season at Lafayette (La.) Acadiana High School.
McKinley tells Rivals he will make his college decision on Friday, August 1.
LSU, Texas, Florida and Tennessee are finalists for McKinley, Rivals’ No. 39-ranked DL in the 2026 class.

What's his expectations as a prospect? I remember last year people raving about him, saying he could be more athletic, used in different ways then big brother.. seems he's slipped rankings wise some. Hoping he chooses lsu, any feedback appreciated from locals

Not sure why he slipped in the rankings. He has great size, a great first step off the ball, and had 66 tackles and 8 sacks playing defensive tackle. His sophomore year he played DE and was their best pass rusher IMO. If I had to guess, it’s because he’s pretty much been penciled in to LSU since his brother committed and thus not generating a lot of suspense for clicks. Also he isn’t as tall as his brother, he’s about 6’3 and 270 lbs, so his projected position in college is up in the air. I would lean more towards him gaining weight and playing DT. But you don’t get offers from Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Auburn if you aren’t SEC caliber.

In HS, his brother seemed to take plays off and disappear at some of the worst times. Darryus has a much higher motor, which is what I think most were suggesting.
Dom seems to have figured out he has to give full effort every play now, and he has looked pretty good every time he has seen the field at LSU, IMO.
I am not sure how they will use Darryus, but he would be a good addition to this team.

Looks more like a DE
Good, we’ll need DE next year as the two top this year are seniors.
